Yes mate I know the changes in Australian manufacture.
Sinnika Leathers of Osborne park in Perth Western Australia still going.
The last maker in WA. Other forumites have had good dealings with them via my reccomendations.
They used to make the WA Police jackets until a "coupla" years back.
Maybe 20 years ago they made an exact copy of an Eastman Luftwaffe for me from my original 1990 jacket.
They took my original Eastman apart to reline it and copied the pattern.
Since then they have had a variant in their range called ' The Berlin" !
The original Eastman was cotton lined Horsehide that was proving too hot on many WA days.
The remake was a super well done job , but in black goat with very light lining. I still have and wear both jackets to this day.
I was in there just last year having a jacket "rezippered"

Oh and a 75 year old Catholic priest had me off my Harley in 2009 , me skittling down and around the road in My Sinnika "goathide Eastman".
Big swirly scratches on the back. A wash down and a treatment with Kiwi black Kids "Shoe scuff stuff" and she was right mate !
The Harley was "well fugged" to coin a phrase !

Cool story. I was never able to get goat in Melbourne. You almost never see this hide in Australia. Everything was either cow or lamb. Goat is the perfect hide for Australia.

This goatskin looks beefy and it's noticeably thicker than most of other goatskins isn't it? Very, I mean Very interesting leather! Nice jacket and cool hat Sir, nothing but perfection!
Thanks @Lebowski, it is an amazing leather. Tough as nails, showing nice grain and creases, yet pretty light weight with the Jacket coming in at just over 3 Lbs.

Yes Seb I think so myself.
My two most recent (and hopefully the last for a while haha !) are both Simmons Bilt in black goat.
Both brand new out of Tuscumbia Alabama I "kid" you not ( no pun intended !).
Same seller had a batch of jackets Simmons Bilt manufactured in Scotland for "Proconsul LA"
2 excellent jackets and I am EXTREMELY pleased with them.
I had multiple correspondences with Deborah Toohey of Simmons Bilt in Moffat Scotland.
(She has no affiliation with the Toohey's beer brand in Australia I did ask !)

Goat is great for the early part of warmer weathers (I found this in HK especially) and humid temperatures in which horsehide is just too heavy. I've never seen it develop mildew or mould even in summers where the tiling was damp in the apartment most of the day (to be fair, the HH didn't either) until the fans/aircon went on. I've not tried it in really cold winters; it does seem to be a 'warmer' hide than horse and is definitely more flexible, so we'll see.

COVID-19 Harley ride north today. Only 2 of us as that's the limit y'see !
Only 8C here when we set off , 20C on the return leg.
Jacket is my only "cross zip" a steerhide Australian made Walden Miller from South Australia.
It was a "promo" jacket from the Australian cinema launch of the movie..
This firm for years made all the Coppers ( Police !) leather jackets in Australia , they get (got ?) a very good name.
"Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" With Johnny Depp and Benicio Del Toro.
Grainy photos today sorry about that !

Is this horse?

Some of these Avirex jackets I've recently seen, they stand side by side with the most nicest makers that I have any experience with. Leather is often brilliant and seems extremely high quality to me. I don't know why are they not held in a higher regard and often almost dismissed. The jackets are regularly high quality, more so than Schott.

There's this standard Avirex cross zip pattern which really is one of the better cross zips I had. Well cut, practical, great material and as comfortable Langlitz. I'm still on the hunt for another one.
