ton, I missed the back story? who's Shawn and what jacket is this? I love this style, been meaning to make one myselfShawn nailed it to the ground again. This hide is shockingly thick! It’s honestly near a Vanson if not maybe even a bit more in terms of weight. I was a little worried at first but I think this turned out beautifully!!

Shawn from 5 Star leathers. The jacket was based on this little number. An original 30’s-40’s HB. They did a great job replicating it to my spec. I have tons of images of this jacket if you want to take a crack at making one.ton, I missed the back story? who's Shawn and what jacket is this? I love this style, been meaning to make one myself
I love this leather and this model. I'd love a halfbelt made out of this hide.

I love the fit! It's nice and trim, but not overly so (at least imho). The original jacket wasn't mine. I was given pics from @AerGuitar for the build. You're right about the lesco/schott vibe too, kinda like these guys:Ooh, i remember this one! They did well, you like the fit? Based on what I can see, this pattern doesn't have much of a quirk to it, visually it's like a standard pattern as those Lesco/Schott four pockets in the 70s with higher armhole. If you have a side view of you wearing this (original) jacket, I just want to see where the shoulder seam lies.
damn I love this jacket. If I got a crosszip, it would be this.
And there it is. Couldn’t ever find one like it. But the night is young....Schott Suede Rancher Type 3 View attachment 327381
Yes. I will post in a separate thread in order not to clutter this one. The Kakishibu solution they sell on Amazon is about 3%, and I read on Japanese blogs that they apply up to 8 layers, drying in-between. So far I got 4 layers down and will take some pics this Sat, when it is supposed to be sunny. I kept a piece of the belt uncoated for comparison, lol.I would test a spot with a second coat. Go thin with the oil, but with LP, 2 or even 3 coats really gets it looking good. You’ve already committed to this road, so try another round.
@Will Zach can we see what the Kakishibu did to the natural belt?
Now that jacket will be sure to turn some heads! Do be sure to say "I'll be back" after you get your tacos.
I’ve said this before but it’s worth repeating: this is YOUR jacket! I mean you wear it with shorts and sneakers which I normally hate seeing together with a leather jacket, but still it WORKS. It just fits you so good, like you and that jacket belong together. Soulmates.
Thanks man! The jacket on the left is a Sears D-pocket OakbrookNice Cal on right! I have the same 5-snap chaps. Can't identify the left jacket, but looks good.
Thanks JMax!Guessing some sort of Sears, probably a Herc or early Oakbrook? I think I can make out the D with patch pocket. Great picture, as always posted by @Davisleathernyc
Too cool!!! Seen the gear on IG, too. Massive <3. What are those white pants? That early Sears is destroying.
Thanks Monitor, the pants have no label or name, but the leather is super thick and well made.
