What Jacket are you wearing 'this month?'

Here in Norway its still cold. We had a wave where it was 15c and I could wear my new 30´s halfbelt for about a week but after that it became really cold and it has actually snowed some! So I had to change to the Alpaca lined Cheyenne for a couple of days.

Now its about 5c and while its still cold, you can wear a Highwayman with a sweater underneath if its sunny.


This is me last Saturday, visiting a museum of how people lived in the old days.
Aero Highwayman with a wool sweater underneth. Tapered IronHeart 634s and Wolverine montgomery shoes.
Is it working?

Yeah the jeans are starting to go very baggy, but I have used them since about October without a wash. I put them in the freezer twice and have had them aired out a couple of times. Man they fade very slow but seem to get a great patina!

The Wolverine shoes are also getting a nice patina and they are extremely comfortable to walk in. The sole wears very slow in comparison to the RedWing Engineer.

I love my Highwayman more and more. It looks best with just a t-shirt under, but I think it works with a sweater aswell, although it gets a little tight.
Seems like it changed kinda quickly in the beginning and now it has almost stayed the same in looks for a long time (a year almost?)
It is the perfect length so that I don't have to care how long the shirt I'm wearing is, I can always just grab the Highwayman and go without looking in the mirror, its really a to-go jacket and it works with all my attire.

I really hope we will have a period of 15c before it gets too hot so that I can wear the halfbelt some.

Nice jacket. Sleeves look much slimmer than on mine - is that because they're the zipped sleeves? It's been odd here. We had a couple of weeks at the start of the month when it was really hot, now it's back to that typical April thing of being just pleasant in the sun, and freezing if it's overcast or a cloud passes overhead. I've been getting a lot of wear out of my Highywayman, also my Thirties halfbelt. Halfbelt is lined in the gab twill Aero used to use for their B10s, and the Hwn is in cotton drill. Mostly I'm just wearing a shirt under those. It can get nippy after dark, but for now I'm readier to brave a bit of a shiver rather than the hassle of carrying an extra layer around all day cause I'm too warm with it on.

Yes the arms are slimmer because they are zipp-sleeves that are fully zipped.

Great attire, Griff! Love the pants, jacket and sweater. Your neck looks a bit bare though. It would look more "complete" if there was a shirt collar, white t-shirt or henley shirt visible. I thin summer linen scarf would also look great... Apart from that you have good taste and great stuff!

I have a newer GW A-1 on order with some design tweaks incorporated.

Likewise, I'm close to saying yes to a GW A-1. Dr H, what are the design tweaks you mention? And would you share how mcuh you got for your previous one?

I bought a beautiful scarf and jumper from them to the pattern of those the same company made for Scott's ill-fated mission to Antarctica. (It might be cold in the UK but there's fairly little chance of freezing to death.)

What are your thoughts on the Ironhearts? Thinking of investing but they seem frightful expensive.

Well...they take a bit of getting used to, but I definitely love them. I don't think they are my best fitting jeans, but since I love things that are made well with good materials this compensates it for me. Standard, they are *way* too wide in the legs for me, infact I found them almost ridicilous looking. Maybe this is because I got them in quite a big size, they dont look so bad on the IronHeart forum on some of the members, but on me they just looked bad. So I sent them to "The Denim Doctor" (along with alot of other jeans) and had them tapered. After the taper they are better, but I still like the cut of the Nudie slimjim better. These jeans are still kinda baggy imho.
This made the jeans *very* expensive all in all.
There is also one more thing, the pockets are too tight so its cumbersome to get your keys out everytime you need to. I don't understand this, it really makes the Jeans very uncomfortable.

Apart from the issues, they seem to hold up very well, alot better then any other jeans I have had. If it weren't from the slight fading they almost look like new so I think they will hold for a very long time.
You should know that they are also warm, but this should be understandable when one knows they are made from 21oz denim.

I love this pair but I wont get another pair, I think their tripple works are good enough (no experience, just guessing)

A Vanson PLU-3 and Red Wing 2268s complete the outfit for me most weekends.

Good question! I have only had them ~3 months, so haven't washed them yet. There are varying levels of OCD that people seem to go to with washing them, from buying special Japanese washing powder and hand washing them to just regular washing. I plan to just soak to loosen up any crud then cold machine wash and dry them flat. Speaking to Giles, who's the main man here in the UK for Iron Heart, this seems like the way to go.
