...as for the known brands, I'd go with Horween CXL (Cordo is the finest), specific older Vanson Comp. weight, Jerky Horsehide and I really like the look of Lewis Leathers lamb, tho I've no clue what's it like IRL.

I doubt it I'll ever find a leather jacket made from a leather that can match this one, though...

This one looks nice! Is it an Aero made from Cherry CXL FQHH?

I ordered a grey buff Thedi in the same style as my tan buff but with a nickle zipper and hardware instead of buttons. Should have it soon. You should do a review on your grey Thedi including pics.

Thank you - I love this style with buttons and I'm sure it will look nice with nickel zipper, too! Yes, I will do a review of it soon...after Easter Holidays.

Has there ever been a leather jacket made out of shell cordovan? I know aero‘ s Cordovan only describes the colour but has nothing to do with Shell cordovan.
Are there manufactures building shell Cordovan jackets? ( must cost a fortune)

Lost World uses horse butts for kidney panels and underarm/elbow panels for their horsehide MC-jackets. At least that’s what Stuart told me.

I'll keep my vintage Buco J-100 on my short list. Actually it's the only jacket on that list. Fits like a glove and protects me from Kriptonite

My favorite would be the Eastman walnut Horsehide used on the roughwear contracts. I wish it comes in black & made into motorcycle jackets.

Himel’s American tanned (not Horween) steerhide. He stopped using it due to supply issues, but it was incredible...

For color- Horween midnight blue cxl

For smell- Shinki
I am with you! I've never seen the Horween midnight blue in person, so I give a go to Eastman Sheepskin as used in their B-6 colorwise...

I’m not in the same league as most of you here, having only handled maybe 7-8 “nice jackets”.

That said, I have handled the following brands mostly done in shinki: Freewheelers, Real McCoys, Himel and Goodwear.

This Mustang HH from Horween is my favorite by far. It’s crinkled, cool vintage vibe is just awesome. Also when the jacket warms up from wearing it’s much softer and more wearable (to me) than any of the shinki I’ve tried.

It has a somewhat waxy hand, and it’s just gorgeous to look at and to wear.

Picture of mine on the left Credit goes to @jonesy86 As my photography skills suck. His is on the right.

I still can’t believe he was kind enough to reach out to me a sell me this jacket.

I have an Aero in Water Buffalo. It is my favourite jacket. Great grain and now patina. Although recently my wife watched a show on Water Buffalo and mozzarella cheese making. She now loves water buffalo and says they are so cute. So now when I wear it she gives me scornful looks like I killed Bambi's mom or something.

I don’t think I have a favorite. I love looking at old leather. I love looking at CXL. Grainy with some depth and variation in color and that’s a favorite for me. I also love orange rough out. Rust colored suede is beautiful.

My least favorite are flat, dull hides. There’s just so many options that picking an actual favorite seems impossible.
