Good Morning Gentlemen,

This is my first post on this forum. I have a question which is hard to find a answer. What is the best beret manufacturer for a everyday wear and tear? I want one where it will last me a life time. Here are some high end manufacturers I know of; Exposición Super Lujo, beret NIEBLA, Béret Bakarra, Béret PeBeO and finally béret Vrai Basque.

Please help me out!

Many Thanks,

Haris

I like the The Elequosi Brand made in Spain. , very well made with many different grades and sizes (outside diameter-flop)

pricing is Good. 60 -70 dollar US for better leather band models.

Elequosi sweat bands in better models are real leather (many berets advertise leather But its actually vinyl).

I wear the top shelf super that is 3/4 lined. my favorite size is about 11 inch outside diameter, I have a 12" but do not care for it its too big (diameter) for my taste. one thing the leather bands do shrink so if you dont wear it daily it will need stretching occasionally. I have a home made hat stretcher. the models without leather band mold to your head and stay there thus one size fits all . I find the leather band more comfortable though.

There really are just two manufacturers left in Europe that make all the Berets that you see today. There is one on France and one in Spain. The Spanish manufacturer is more consistent while the French company was reorganized and is now making berets again.

Wow, when I lived in France in the late 80s there were at least a dozen French makers.

I have super-basque brand made in France. Good, thick 100% wool, relatively small diameter (10 1/2"). It has a leather sweatband but it's not as supple as on fedoras (Akubras for example). Also has cloth patch on the under-top. Still wearable. I would prefer diameter 11 1/2" though.

I also love berets - along with Fedoras. Take a look at the beret project and contact Daan. He can answer your questions and guide you through his large collection of berets. He is the best with them. I should know - as I bought a whole lot of them......
