If it is at all higher, it might be accentuated by the angle. Or it might just be the angle.

...The brim side to my right is flatter, less swoopy. I assumed it had to do with brim tension around the hat. It is very pronounced in my Panama. I wonder if this is an intentional design thing, or it just happens...

I think it probably has to do with the asymmetrical shape of your (and my) head.

Makes sense. My head is only a little smaller than yours (7-1/2, 7-5/8). And not symmetrical at all.
And I was blaming my innocent hats.
