First off let me thank everyone who contributes to this forum. Such a wealth of knowledge about these old hats that amazes me all the time ! Until I dropped in here a couple years ago I had no idea Stephen L. Stetson manufactured hats or that the John B Stetson company sued for copyright infringement and won.
I've been keeping my eyes open for one of these to add to my collection and finally found one in my size. Of course it came at a time when I was not prepared to buy another hat , wouldn't you know it ? Needless to say I bit the bullet and hit the buy it now button.lol.

Got the new project hat dusted off a bit and outside this morning. Looks way better in the sun than it did in the dark hallway last night lol.

Resistol Qucksilver 4x.. Big and Dark! Love the silver hatband... has a chain like design in it. Nice looking hat as-is, but plans are for a decent size pencil curl on the brim . Also thinking that Ill do a nice wider tooled leather band with Silver conchos to camouflage the crown height just a bit.. Have a selection of conchos, but may have to go hunting for some others. As tall as the crown is I actually might be able to pull off the domed Morgan Silver dollars! That would look cool but might add a couple pounds to the hat lol. Do think an engraved silver oval would look nice too. Going to be a fun project

Good looking hat Rick. I can hardly wait to see what you do with it !
* I was surprised how much weight those buffalo head nickels added to my Gambler but don't regret the choice one tiny bit.

Thanks Mark. Just so happens I was lucky enough to stumble onto it the very same day that I found the other "holy grail" hat I mentioned to you earlier.
* still waiting on that one to arrive

A Borsalino extra lusso Ecosan "Antelope" in Amiata color. This likes soft butter. Seems more gray than my other Amiara colored Borsas.

Edit: It started raining on me as soon as I got out there to take pics. Sorry it is blurry. I'll try to post to Borsalino thread after this rain passes.

Purchased this mid-60s to early 70s Stetson 25 Open Road just recently. The hat is in pristine condition and the only sign of wear is some diminishing of the Stetson logo on the sweatband. The interesting thing about this hat is that the hat company that sold it is still in business today. The shudde View attachment 656663 View attachment 656664 View attachment 656665 View attachment 656666 View attachment 656667 brothers company was established in 1901 in Houston and in the mid-2000s they moved their shop to another location in Texas where they still sell and service stetson hats and the proceeds go to intellectually disabled adults in their community. I've called them and spoken to a representative and described the hat and the logo and they have confirmed that it is one of their hats. Other than a little shaping because of it not being stored properly it's in fantastic condition.
Complete with the Stetson man pin
