What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Sometimes less is more, more or less. This little Disney Gadabout was an also-ran in the competitive race for an inexpensive, lightweight out-on-the-town hat - a category dominated by the Stetson Playboy and Dobbs Cross Country during the late 1930s-early 1940s. I am very fond of them... a lot of style for five to seven dollars, easy to wear and easy to stow for travel. This one is a favorite traveling companion of mine. The felt is just a little thicker and holds its crease nicely with handling. I am a big fan of the slender mid-ribbon swooped down saucily by its knot and the fixed wind cord button (if it had a string it was snipped off long ago). I haven't seen another Disney Gadabout which maybe explains why I'm mad about this one.

Wow—tough to follow Eric’s epic banquet of hats, but I headed out in my new RDOR—a fine between the seasons hat.

I agree, David, my Strats and ORs see a lot more head time between seasons.

Only back bow I’ve liked.

Most excellent C&K, Randall. I'll have to break out my C&K straw on a week or two.

It has been a modern morning. A walkaout under a Gannon Wanderer (steel gray).

Home and galavanting about in the yard. Inspired by Perry's VS hat yesterday I wore my VS Wanderer (dove gray beaver felt).

Picking up some yard detris I changed to a Gannon Playboy (silverbelly). Cheers to completing tasks before 8:00am. A cup of coffee to survey my efforts was perfect.

This 1960s Stetson Strat clone came from @Jesse John and has become one of my favorite hats. It’s a great color and has that classic thin ribbon look but the 2 3/8 brim also gives it (to my eye) a bit of a 1930s look and makes it a little more versatile for wearing around NYC.

Very nice, David. Yours is very similar to my brown Royal Stetson. Maybe not the best hat in the bunch, but good looking, easy to wear and great for grab-n-go!

Max Weise Berlin, Stolzf. Lux. Velour made for Bernward Leineweber, Berlin C Köllnischer Fischmarkt possibly 1930s. I found this fantastic metal gray close cropped Velour back in 2017.

Wonderful, Steve. I particularly like the liner and sweatband. Not often you see a light coloured sweat in a Fedora. A truly striking hat.

A huge thank you to the inimitable Eric @Short Balding Guy sent me an original TWA Stratoliner pin for my early Stratoliner Vita-Felt. I agree.. this hat deserves to be matched up with the right pin. Thank you very much sir… very very much appreciated . Up up and Away!
