The week in hats. Alas, hardly any useable sunshine this week, but here we go anyway.

On this rainy and windy Sunday these are my choices: in order of merit
I’m with Daniele, but I’ll reverse the order.

As a young man, I remember getting a made to measure suit from Dunn & Co, back in those days dumbed down was unheard of. There's a photo on my desk of the grandfather who died before I was born, the hat he has on is the image of your Cavanagh. Have to say, it's a tough choice, but the Cavanagh just edges it.

Had my Grandfather been alive today I would probably have been given a lesson in monetary value. He would not approve of a bespoke hat, but he would have liked the finished result, so do I.

Day four of pre-Stingymas sees me in Crosby & Co bowler for a visit to the fish market.

OK, a bowler isn’t technically a stingy brim, especially when it’s 6cm front and back, but I figure the 5.5cm side allows it to sneak in. I have to cheat a bit in order to extend my pre-Stingymas!

Etsuko went for the same hat as yesterday.

Thank you, Robert. Your hat looks well worth the money. As they say: it's a lot of money but it's not expensive.

A black Barbisio during the pipesmoking session! Have a great weekend y'all! View attachment 469961 View attachment 469962 View attachment 469963
Gorgeous Barbisio, Marcel. Still a favourite brand.

No matter how good Etsuko looks in her hat, I have to give it to the bowler this time. I expect the food pictures as soon as the fish and seafood is prepared :)

Oops! I accidentally deleted the food photos. I do have this, though.

This morning has been cold and I can wear a hat only when I pull my collar up. Early morning walkabout in a Royal DeLuxe Stetson OR.

A warm-up inside and I headed back outside for a check of the property. I changed to a VS fedora (inspired by the Stetson Stratoliner in dove grey beaver felt).

A bit later I headed out to fill bird feeders and to clear the boathouse of ice buildup. A Royal DeLuxe Setson Stratoliner was my hat choice.

i-9SMpKhx-M.jpg

I started the grill for some brunch and was under the brim of a Gannon Wanderer (silvermist beaver felt with charcoal trimmings).

Here I am with another hat of the "little glorious" generation of Italian hats born between sixty and seventies.
Last was a modern G.B. Borsalino fu Lazzaro, "Destrina" color, this time it is directly a Borsalino
Maroso Borsa 55.jpg

The style in those years, now distant, became "imaginative" and "creative" solutions were tried to give oxygen to a market in evident asphyxiation, certainly the tastes of the buyers had also changed
Maroso Borsa A2.jpg
Borsalino Qualità Extra Superiore in "Maroso" felt color. What does this word mean in Italian?
maróso1 s. m. [der. of sea]. - Huge wave of the sea; It is mostly used at the PLURAL. To indicate the wave motion of the coarse sea, characterized by large waves that proceed aligned, with steep crests and close to breaking or already broken at the top.
Maroso Borsa 4.jpg
The felt is very soft and finished with concentric seams on the crown and on the brims, the ribbon is of the same Felt and color
Maroso Borsa 6.jpg
Have a nice Sunday and thanks for your likes on the G.B. Borsalino "Destrina"
Compliments for your parade of hats!

I like that colour and a spiral stitch from to to time is a welcome change.
