Wearing my latest hat project. I completely reworked this Melton. The hat sports a taller straight crown with a 2 5/8 bound snap brim. It's creased in my preferred Teardrop with a tight pinch.

I sewed on a new brim binding with a black 1 1/2 ribbon and bow. I gave the bow a slight upward swoop.

Awesome rebuild, Terry! I like the colors, too. Crown’s perfect!

On the 7th Day of StingyMas...

1950s Stetson 3X Beaver Quality - Steel Grey
6 inch open crown - rakish 5 to 4 inch as shaped
1 7/8 Black Grosgrain Ribbon with Boxcar Bow treatment.
2 1/8 brim with 1/8 accented bound edge

The 2 1/8 brim on this 1950s Stetson 3X Beaver Quality may be stingy... but the crown at about 6 inches open certainly is not! With these proportions the crown was looking a bit stovepipe like. It seems whenever I pick this one up I’m working the crown wider and down a bit. It has a cool boxcar bow ribbon treatment. The steel grey felt has some blue tones to it and is a similar feel to my same period whippet.

Killer Stingy, Joe! Love the tall, square crown!
And thanks to you and @Steve1857 for the comments on my new blue Stetson.

I was planning to join the Stingyness with one of my Christys’ trilbies but neither of them worked with what I was wearing. I was, however, happy to don my Brummel’s homburg that came to me from Stefan. I don’t wear this hat often, but it is right up there vying for number one in my collection.

My wife, Etsuko, is in a Maxim as usual.

It is green and is one of the latest purchases, so the series of greens continues before Christmas.
Soana 1.jpg

Barbisio Classic size 59 cm. or 7 3/8 US.
Soana 2.jpg

The color of the felt is "Soana" The valley which lies below the Gran Paradiso, north-west of Sagliano Micca, the place of production of the company founded by the Barbisio family in 1862.
Soana 6 bis.jpg
The felt is of medium consistency and can be easily modeled without the use of steam.
The shape and styling is the one in vogue in the Fifties when they looked for alternatives to the classic hat in Italian production, even if this had already been done before World War II.
Soana 4.jpg
The finishes, as always in historical Barbisio, are of the highest quality

I want to thank all those who expressed their appreciation yesterday and today for the French and Italian hats I showed. Have a nice Sunday

Good morning. Yesterday afternoon was outside chore time. I wore a Cordova Cap (Carhart material) work cap. I wore ear protection tipped so that the band was on the back of my head and it worked great.
