What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

So let's start with the thanks: Wayne in distant NZ who agreed to the exchange of two velours and to our friend Stefan who contributed with a Borsalino meal to which I added one too. The hats have traveled the continents and here are the ones that arrived in the large brick and tuff house in Verona

Ecuyer & Thomas size 58 cm which, fortunately, has adapted to my head.

Made in France, it is of a thick velvet and with a satin hair

Light and very malleable. Certainly different from some Huckel or Borsalino that I have handled over the years

For a perfect description of the velour I will wait Steve in Verona who will give his precious opinion to understand where it comes from and its quality

It will soon be show in the new hats section

I must confess that I am very happy because I made other loungers satisfied with velour hats of splendid quality, but I had no one, until a magnificent hat from Steve as a gift some years ago.
Thanks again Wayne and Stefan without whose generosity this would not have been possible
Daniele, Super! It looks like a Close Cropped Velour but I will have to take a look in person. :)

Excellent Borsa, Michael, and smart outfit as well. You get my vote for best dressed this week. Stay warm.
Thanks Randy. Hard to beat a Borsalino and some Harris Tweed.

Yesterday a Kaller Super Boreal. Have I said how much I like wearing this hat. A great look, beautiful liner, and plush sweat. Windy and cold yesterday but this derby lived up to one of it's best characteristics; it stayed planted on my head right where I placed it; wind didn't phase it at all. More cowbell?Heck, I say more Derby!!!

Wearing the Disney Twenty today after re-doing the ribbon. I didn’t really want it this wide, but whatever got on the original one bled through onto the felt and was up above the old ribbon, so I had to use a 2” to cover it up. I even tried a Naphtha bath, but no luck, it’s almost like it was bleached.

Did a Shark Gill with Dog Ears, and think it turned out pretty good for my first one. Learned some things to improve on the next one....

Yet another shark gill pleated bow...

A time capsule hat showcasing the beautiful attention to detail by Borsalino. Many mysteries - falero? nadirsca, visone (made with mink, or used to describe the luxurious feel of the velour?). W.E. Baber of Burlington Colo. lives on in a 1948 journal containing a pictogram of his livestock brand. I will have to hire Columbo to find out more.

Looks good, Tim, I wouldn't knock that one too much. Wide ribbon is OK. That was my biggest regret sending you that Fifteen, I really liked the wide ribbon on that one, it was just too small to fit me.

My widest ribbon at 2 inches. A grey and purple Dobbs.

I landed an excellent Mallory Nokabout this week. Aristocrat quality with the Cravanette water-resistant treatment and a vapor barier behind the sweatband.
I believe it's late 50's but it is solid all the way; felt, ribbon, leather, lining AND stitching!
That's really nice because I've had some threads popping lately on more than one vintage hat.

Thanks Randy. I do like the wide ribbons on certain hats, but wasn’t sure how it would look with the gills.

It does look great on that Fifteen you sent me though, thanks again !!
