Great hat! Super ribbon!
Everyday your hats are a different one. I notice...just never know if i’ve seen them before. Thanks
Bowen
Bowen, Thank you! I haven't worn this one in a while but it's a favorite. Unfortunately the original liner stamping was too deep and cut the plastic. The printing is on plastic so this damaged the liner logo (had to apply tape). When I first received the hat (a few years ago) I didn't realize the situation.

A new Borsalino Alexandria. Picked this one up a few weeks ago in Milano at Cappelleria Melegari. A good, basic rabbit hat with a feel very similar to a modern Stetson Chatham, IMO. We'll see how it holds up over time.

You bought this one in Milan?

Of all the countries I've visited, I have to say I was most enamored with Italy. I did, however, enjoy the smaller towns more than the big cities. Florence was great, but Mezzocorona was magical.

Was Hückel Weilheim a German subsidiary for hat production?
There headquarters was in Wien, Austria, correct?
No they were located in Weilheim. The ex workers from JHS factories in Czechoslovakia and Silesia started shortly after WWII. Weilheim went out of business in 1975.

06/30/1946: Hutfabrik Hückel GmbH in der Kaltenmoserstr. 26, 82362 Weilheim was established.

07/01/1959: Name changed to Hückel Hutfabrik KG and moved to Kaltenmoserstraße 30, 82362 Weilheim.

05/04/1971: Name changed to Hückel Hutfabrik OHG.

11/30/1975: Closed business

Yes, I did get this one in Milano. This specific shop does not do business online or ship overseas, so it was very interesting to talk to the owner. Yes, Italy was great and easy to get around. The wife and I took a train tour up into the Alps which was also fabulous.
