What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Absolutely. I like to try to figure out the thin ribbons whether they are Stratoliners or not. One movie I saw from the forties (I can't for the life of me remember the name) had a guy wearing a Strat and the pin was still in it.
Cool when you pick out something like that.

not from a terribly old movie... but they were playing Rocky movies back to back the other day. I caught the end of Rocky and into the beginning of II. And I notice Paulie on the ring apron and I clearly see the underwelt on his hat. First scene of Rocky II is immediately after that at the hospital. I can’t make out an underwelt on his hat in that scene.. looks much more clean. Maybe an upgrade on his hat to go along with his dramatic 30 minute weight loss. LOL

Wow Tim.. tremendous job with the brim.. it was a beautiful hat to begin with. But what you did with the brim takes it over the top. 2 3/4 starts to get into a range that looks too big on me... that up turn on the edge gives it really nice proportions.

something like that was what I was thinking would look great on this over century old Roelofs

Thanks Joe. It might work on that one, but it looks really wide from the photo. How wide is it ? Is it a raw edge ?

It’s fairly wide and dimensional... 3” front 3 1/2 sides. 2 7/8 back. Raw edge. About 4 1/2 crown as creased prob about 5 open.

You have a great collection Bowen.

I know you like to watch old movies for the hats don't you! I know I do. I watched "The Natural" last night for the first time in probably 25 years and there are a ton of great hats in it. It must have been back when vintage hats were abundant because the hats in that movie were there real deal.
Ha ha
Hey Rog, thanks and yes i do watch for hats. Last night, Lawless with Tom Hardy. He wore a nice beater with a wideband and gills?? Not sure about gills in the 20s but i ain’t tellin him. Or that it needed re-flanged. Some other good ones in it too.

Haven't had this Marathon out for awhile. Seems like a nice sunny day for it, after yesterday's gale.

Debating the idea of grinding some wheat today. Would be good exercise.

Always love to see that hat. I hope I can get a heathered blue like that when I go for another custom hat.

Good day folks. Thanks for sharing your hats and adventures.

My dog romp this morning found me wearing a 50's Stetson with Mode edge treatment. The fedora is a light gray felt with a very unique ribbon. As far as I can interpret my dog approved.

My black Warren fedora contrasts with Brazilian medium roasted coffee with a dash of cream. Last nights reading was how cream bonds to some bitter elements in coffee and bonds to the taninns in tea. Interesting. I tip my cup in your direction this morning.

A longer walk was taken in a vintage 50's Adams fedora. I was inspired by yesterdays post from Michael. The ribbon treatment is just plain special. The felt hue in contrast with the green hued pug is well done. Marvelous hat.

Home and cleaning out outside flower pots. Gannon Wanderer (inspired by the venerable Stetson hat of said name) in a bone beaver felt with a special ribbon treatment.

Very cool one ! Give it a shot with lots of steam and post some pics. That one's too cool not to wear......
I gave it a good steam once... maybe not enough. Brought it about 80% back. But doesn’t really hold.. I think I may have to try adding some stiffener especially if I want the brim to hold much shape for long.

Century plus old Roelofs for a little unplanned garage cleanup today after water heater apparently ruptured. Luckily not an explosive massive leak... but I definitely enough. Have my work all lined up for me now. Surprisingly Lowes is only carrying one brand of water heater these days... so not much decision to be made on the replacement.

So, Austin has been on virus lockdown for a week now, unsure when this will be lifted. $1000 fines for non-essential outings. (not like anyone is enforcing it) Grocery store or medical necessity only. So, its yard work, puzzles, dog training, watching every James Bond movie ever made, lots of mimosas and tequila. Cold and rainy too. This really sucks. Maybe time for a hats and wrinkled jammies thread. Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy.
