Here's the Stetson Nutria I was working on. I'm not doing anything special with it. Just sizing it up. A buddy of mine gave it to me a couple a couple of years ago. I'm not exactly happy with the way it turned out. The hat is soft felt plus the brim has a weak spot in the back which made it hard to work with. It's an old faded out tan hat, probably late '40s to very early '50s. The brim also made the ribbon difficult to work with as well. I actually had to reblock this thing twice, and reflange it three times. I'm going to buy some hat stiffener and apply it to the brim and see if that will give it some support. I still have some tweaking to do on it. It's very similar looking to the Resistol Tan Bark longhair I did a few weeks ago, only lighter in color. Once I get everything tweaked up I think I can get it pretty much taken care of, aside from some of the weaknesses in the felt. It'll still have plenty of life when I'm finished. Tall straight crown, 2 3/4 brim, and an 1 1/2 contrasting ribbon

Looks great! The color and contrasting ribbon look really good, with the brim width.

Today I had to attend an appointment at my doctor's surgery. It's a husband and wife team, both of whom, are doctors. My appointment today was with the wife, and as her and her husband share a name we call her Dr. Rachel. Originally I had put on an Aloha shirt, but my missus said that only a collar and tie will suffice for a visit to the doctor. If you say so dear.

Dr. Rachel was in good spirits, I had to drop my trousers so that she could examine the hip replacement scar, this I duly did. Looking up from my thigh she said: "You never disappoint." To which I replied, "the hat or the tie?" She laughed and said: "Well, the shoes actually."
I like doctor Rachel, there's nothing that I'm uncomfortable with in tallking to her about. When I have my annual medical check up she will give me a phial and ask me for a urine sample, but she always says it in a common usage term. "Just pop down to the toilet and put a sample of your pee in their for me." It's her job, and she's very good at it, but collar and tie, fedora hat and spectator shoes bowl her over.
So glad I didn't disappoint.
The hat's one of Esther's, the shirt is by Darcy, the shoes by Colin Johnson, and the trousers Tina bought and altered from slim it to wide with turned up cuffs.

If you need a rain hat, you can't go wrong with a filson!

Very nice Terry. Saving a nutria is a noble thing. Love that color, looks great.

I would be drawn to those fabulous shoes too. I think you probably get better care from a doctor that appreciates how you present yourself to them. My new doctor's office is already noticing the different hats I wear to appointments. His nurse is really excited about them. I'm going to gift her a stingy Dobbs straw I have in reserve at my next appointment in a couple of weeks.
