Today I wore my Dobbs "Panaire" Panama straw. Originally it had a Colonial style (open crown with a thin ridge running from front to back). I didn't like that, so I flatened the ridge a bit and lowered the dome so the crown looks more like a Pork Pie or Gambler. It was a fantastic eBay deal; only cost me 24,- Euro, total. I didn't see it before, but it looks nice now. I like the color and ribbon, as well.

Good to see you Yahoody! I thought maybe you got bucked off again:D

Not like that couldn't happen :) Still healing up. Been on the horses a couple times since the wreck but as I was told early on, a broken pelvis takes some time to heal. No chit! Who'd have thought :confused: Just to add insult to injury bringing in the crew last night in the dark one of the mares spooked and a young gelding wacked me with a hoof in the ankle full force and than a yearling knocked me down. Dumb ass! Me, not the horses, I know better. Wouldn't have be surprised if he'd broke my leg it hurt so bad. Black and blue some this morning but hobbled around doing chores today and got most of it done. Had a neighbor's horse go down at sunset last night and thought we'd lost her. So I was a couple hrs late and inattentive bringing mine in. Damn near cost me some down time. But all is good now except for the decided limp :)

Not sure if I showed this prior...the wife's newest hat. Bill Cody style! She got two new hats for her birthday. Have to look back and see if I posted the other one.

If it weren't for all the chit, anyone could be a Vaquero! That hat is awesome!

View attachment 130332 View attachment 130333 Always drawn back to this 70’s Stetson, The Imperial, Ultimate Finish. The proportions seem to fit perfectly here in the East, with a 2 1/4 brim, moderate ribbon, and raw edge. It’s thick but soft, and importantly, drives well.
Can't go wrong with those lines RW. Looks like a grab and go favorite.

The Chinese invent their own natural materials, Mike:D
That is what I'm worried about. Technically, toilet paper is a natural material...

Temps coming down means felt weather, Mike. You know it's what you want.
We are actually going to be in the 70s with a chance of rain Saturday. I might just sport multiple felts in celebration.

Yesterday the Borsalino Dattero (jay, felt weather!)

Today a new to me Dobbs fifteen (made under license)

I'll have to go back and search for the introductory images of that Dobbs. It is interesting and showy. Love the brim stitching on the Dattero.

Today i’d like to present a hat created by our own CaneRodMaker, Tim of Alley Kat Hat Co. Tim is a humble artisan and craftsman who’s skill belies pictures and must be beheld to truly appreciate. Other’s here have benefited his artwork and i have this example alone to enjoy. All hand stitched (amazing) all hand created.
This example is from work in 2013. I can only imagine the strides achieved in the last 5 years. A man who can craft a split cane flyrod has certainly brought that gift to custom hats. Thanks Tim!!
Be well. Bowen
Great to see an Alley Cat Bowen. We have not heard much from Tim lately. I used to love the photography of his creations he posted.

P. & C. Habig Wien "Export Qualität". I have a bunch of these. This one had a medium width band but it was damage so I had Optimo Chicago replace it about 9 years ago. They also added a sweatband bow which P. & C. Habig Wien didn't use.
Can anyone guess the production year?

OK, I'll bite... The sweat is substantial and deeply embossed, liner with the classy logo. Without searching your website for historical information (I'll probably do that later), and based on the French advert, I'm going for...Mid 1930s. What do I win?

Out and about with my daughter again today. Straw hats for the heat and humidity. Modern Stetson Florentine Milan for me and a Country Gentleman parabuntal for mi hija.

I hate to break it to ya...she has the win for the best hat!

Little warm here today. Boise says 108F. We did them a little better. Warm enough it shut down my I phone right after I took the photo. Such a pussy phone!

My 6" brim Sunbody getting some sweat stains this summer.
I will never bitch about 96 degrees again, day-um. Even the shade under that brim must be hot!

Couldn't post today. The Lounge was having trouble uploading pics and sending notifications.
I wore my Adam Majestic today. I love it.

Spent the morning in a straw, spent the rest of the day in the Texas Hatter Hi-Roller after I had Nate from Nathaniels custom hats do his magic to steam, buff/brush, and reshape it. Amazing how fast he shapes and rolls a hat, what an artist. His wife found the perfect hatband. Before and after photos below.

I love the brim curl and I am envious of the headband. I'm a sucker for the Native American/Southwest designs.

Thanks, Mike. You won't have to look very far for the Dobbs pictures: I'll post them in a moment!
