I bought the grade 12 hat body in Cuenca, Ecuador, and then had Mike Miller of NW Hat Co block it and add the leather sweat, satin tippet/liner and navy bow with cream "tuxedo" highlight.

Lots of action in the old town today. Ragbrai is stopping here for the first time in many years. Live music and beer gardens starting at noon. Should be a wild time, for some folks at least.

Cooled down a bit yesterday and some rain to help clear the dust. Cool enough to wear some felt again. Felt great! (that's awful I know).

It's not a hat that is made for rain, because it's as thin as a handkerchief, so the Garibaldi (probably made by Cervo) had to step in for the rainy bit.

Thanks Red. It was a pretty lazy day here. Short bike ride, rummage in the ramp for a bit and make a nice chicken curry.

Thanks, D. I tried that hat in the vintage store maybe 10 times and it was always too small. Then one day it fit. More hair must have fallen out. Ha ha. I've been trying the same thing with a vintage boater, but it refuses to grow. Or my head refuses to shrink any more.

Yes, a 7 day ride across the state by a different route every year. It's been going on since 1973. it was quite the party when they were here Friday night. They basically enclosed the core of downtown in a fence and turned it into a beer garden.

Spending a little time this evening under the Resistol Caronia, and wearing one of my new rummage sale shirts.
