Today's hat is actually a vehicle to display a new 1950s tie. Fished this one out of the 'Bay for a few bucks. The Navy Mike Gannon Custom fedora just seemed to want to pair up with this blue and gold new favorite cravat.

Darn Mike that is a spiffy matching outfit. I hope you can find some navy Alden Horween Gunboats to attire your feet in that outfit. Styl'n good sir.

Great warm look today Michael. Love the wide ribbon on that beautiful Champ.
Thanks Red. Ran across the Champ when I was looking at a pile of hats and realized it's been awhile since it had an outing.

The FrunoBerger looks good in the sunshine. I'm still on the hunt for some history on this one. Reached out to a Archivist friend at Berkeley to see if they show up in some city directories for LA/Hollywood during the 40s/50s. Should hear something this week.

Thanks for all your efforts, Mike. Something tells me this is a very old piece of felt. Not sure why, just a hunch. I came up dry on everything I've tried to find something on this hat. As a last resort, I even tried yelling out my front door, "Anybody know anything about Berger of Hollywood hats?" But alas, nothing.

I received this one at the same time, and from the same eBay seller, as the Barclay you occasionally see me in. They are comparable pieces of felt - thin, dense, lightweight. Very malleable, just excellent felt. The Berger, however, has more desirable dimensions than the Barclay.

BTW - Nice tie!

Mallory "The Dallas" for me today.
Very soft, light and clean. Probably pre 50’s.

Great TAR choices gentlemen!

Beater? Well loved with patina might fit this one better.

Thanks Mike. :)

Seeing your look today I will still say that my hat (along with my jacket and other attire ... hell, even me) is truly "beater" worthy. You be stylin'!!

Well that's just great. Now I need a Navy Gannon. I was trying to pair my hats down and you had to go and post this. The shameless guy that I am, I'll just give Gannon a photo of your hat and call it good. Honestly though, I'm diggin' that hat.

I like the way the sunshine plays with the color on this Dobbs. What color is it for reals? Black? Dark Purple?

Hey everybody!
Many thanks for all the likes and kind words on my recent posts.
Today, this ca.1950 Stetson 3XBQ Mode Edge.

Beater = Character. I have this one's brown cousin. What does the sweat/liner look like?

Gray light on a light snow morning makes details of a hat pic difficult. This Dobbs fedora is an inky-blue. In light it can look very deep blue almost black. With closer inspection it has a gorgeous deep blue hue. The leather sweat work is dynamite. The brim edge - exquisite. This hat needs head time at my house.

Finally warmer 8'F weather that allows hat time. Outside and enjoying the "warm spell."

Best, Eric -
A real beauty Eric, deserves lots of head time

Navy is such a beautiful felt, any style will suit it. My ribbon highlight has the Orange and Black of OSU, you could stay with the alma mater theme and do your school colors.

Pure class my friend! Nice finish, quality.

Same hat as yesterday. Knox Vagabond King. Visited Swami Beach in Encinitas, CA this morning. The little dots in the water are surfers!

Surfing in the dead of winter, damn. Still loving that Knox.

Took a walk thru the woods wearing a cap. The light snow makes everything look like the Christmas cards that would arrive at my parents house and be out on display thru March when I was a younger boy.

Home in time to shovel again. I changed to a Gannon (charcoal with fray ribbon).

Enjoying the winter weather on a balmy 15'f Minnesota afternoon.

Best, Eric -
Nothing cooler than snow drifts on the brim of a Gannon. Pun intended.

Always love to see the color of this OR Greg, so pleasant.

Mallory "The Dallas" for me today.

Don't worry, I wasn't not moving when I took the picture. Just sitting at a looooooong drive thru
