Pulling all the stops today with this blue double brim vintage velour hat, and matching everything else. We went for a walk in Haarlem, lovely Dutch city, and tonight we're celebrating Sinterklaas (with delay, actual St. Nicholas day is 5 december).
I'm really happy to be actively following the thread, life is better with a hat on and I'm in great company over here.

there is no deal ... just growing less fond of Akubra hats as time goes forward...highly overrated company
... I did buy it though ... so color me sucker
I have one Akubra hat, a Coober Pedy in Sand. I feel like that's enough. For the money, and even less $$, I've been picking up vintage hats that have a lot more character and quality.

Every night now, the temperature falls a few degrees below zero.
During the day the sun's warming is minimal, therefore the cold persists, but the winter light is fantastic

This morning everything was frozen and can not wear a hat, only caps with ear flaps

In returning home I put this Tirard French made

Felt medium-high density with a marked turn toward the heather
The ribbon in "hot" black and white textured reminds some of Cappellificio Cervo ribbons

The color is called in French "nuance tweed" and changed from every angle

The hat comes straight from the 60s

Have a nice Saturday and thanks for the appreciations on the Panizza Kangaroo
Gorgeous hat, Daniele!

Looking good Steve!!
Where are you?. Curiosity killed the cat....
Harv, Thanks! I am on the Savage Mill trail near where we went to lunch.

After a walk in a frozen and misty morning
I arrived in my office to see this beauty!
M.W.B. Stolzf. Luxury Velour, 1930s a real stunning
Daniele, Thanks! Beautiful Tirard! Great to see vintage French made hats. Appears we are having similar weather.

Very rich looking velour, thick and fluffy.
Redfokker, Thanks!

Another awesome hat. My Husband thinks we should attempt to commission you to find a 7 1/2 LO for us, as you seem to find hats that are beyond anything we find.
LuvMyMan, Thanks too! I will keep look out for you but these old German Velours are very difficult to find especially of this quality / color.

You know you guys keep putting up these $500 dollar hats and calling them beaters. This is a beater. The ribbon is in tatters and the remains are permanently wrinkled, the felt is unruly, the liner is a color that makes you wonder about disease every time you put it on. Portis, Club Quality,

Another cold and, supposedly, soon to be snowy day.

Yet every day, Michael, you put it all together and put many of us to shame. Great fashion sense, there, friend.

We went to the church for a holiday brunch this morning, and a good time was had by all. Most people wore some sort of red sweater with a Christmas theme. Not me, I went native via the "Mele Kalikimaka" theme with a Hawaiian shirt, Vans aloha style slip-ons, wild socks from my nephew in Ecuador, and a Falcon Park silverbelly with a "steely" navy ribbon and bow. Fun!
