Thanks guys. Dug this out of the pile; it deserves more head time. It might be the last Panama Bob ever shipped!

That and/or Huckleberry pies. There's a little diner in Kalispell, Montana...
Montana huckleberries remind me of a blueberry variant. Delicious! I grew up in the NW parts of Washington, now live in NW Oregon and we get these little, weird, red huckleberries... blech, in comparison.

Humid weather for a dog walk has me donning a Old Guys Rule T-shirt and a milan for comfort. This not my normal attire, but working. It is times like this that I am reminded that I like winter. I tip my hat to forum folks who live and thrive in these conditions. A vtg. Adam milan was my hat choice this morning.

LOVE all the Milans posted today, fellas!

I'm partial to all the cool Panama and other straws today, too. Hot weather brings out the straw!

You haven't lived until you've eaten fresh Marionberry (an Oregon blackberry) pie!
My Mom was from Chetek, Wisconsin, and I go fishing there once a year. There is a restaurant in nearby Rice Lake called Norske Nook, where they make pies that taste just like my Mom's.
My favorites are Rhubarb, Lingonberry, and Banana Cream. Wowww!

They are worth the search. I had my first marionberry pie when I was about 10 and was blown away. I've eaten blackberries my whole life. Started picking them near my house in Kent, WA, when I was 5...

I once made a dry table wine from marionberries, about 2 cases, and it was fabulous. Smelled like sweet, opulent, fresh berries, but on the palate was full, rich and dry like a syrah/cabernet blend.

Very interesting, especially the diagram of the berry pedigrees!

I miss American pies, and you just reminded me of that, Red. The only way I had of eating authentic American pies in Mexico was my Mom's cooking, but she died about 15 years ago.
So when I go to Chicago I get stuffed on Gino's East Pizza, Chile con Carne, Italian Beef Combo sandwiches, BBQ ribs, corn bread... I am salivating.

All that is good too. We are talking fresh blue berries, raspberries and strawberries today. Cobbler time.

And...developed by Oregon State University!! They were named Marion because the field work was done in that county. They were developed in 1956, so the hats worn by the professors and Extension agents were cool too.
