Would you look at that! Here I've been cautiously eyeing a Lee back bow in chocolate brown, trying to decide if I like the back bow and the 4" hat band, and here you come modeling something (admittedly better) very much like it! Nice hat, as always, Mike.

I'd go for it. I look at these as a moment in hat fashion of the late 50s. The back bow was not a new thing, they were popular in the early century (and perhaps earlier). The style lends itself to the wider ribbon, makes the back bow more robust. If I didn't have two Lee back bows already, I would be all over it.

Great looking VS Roger. I had to look closely to find the photobombing, that mirror thing must be a new innovation. Cool.

Sweet picture Harv. Wish Esther a happy birthday from me, missed it in all the theater craziness.

Today it’s a not often seen around here brand.
A Churchill Beaver 50. One could go on and on about the felt of these underrated hats. I’ll just say “I dig it”. Thanks Vic. Still lookin for the 100. Ha
Thanks as always the kind words.
Be well. Bowen
Just a beautiful hat. I was watching that auction, too. Figured that it would go too rich for me so didn't bid. Your friend rocks.

I love the way the color of the ribbon works against the felt.

Happy anniversary to you both.
Thanks fellas! The ribbon is the green you see in the photos.

Our 35th anniversary celebration has moved around town with a variety of food and libations as the day progressed. Back home and now relaxing in a Dorfman Geniune Raffia. Contemplating another cocktail and possibly a “sick day” tomorrow.

Dittos on what I said to Matt. I love seeing the ORs in different shades.

I came this close (holds thumb and forefinger very close together) to putting this hat on eBay last week. It's a great hat, but I'd convinced myself it fit funny (it's a wide oval), but it really doesn't. I'm wishy-washy on the back bow, and the ribbon width limits the pinches I put in. Well, I spent some quality time with it yesterday, steaming, brushing, and reshaping. I took out the diamond, ironed out the ghosts, gave it a good steambath and brushed out the nap. It's such a great color, and I do like it, but I'm still flirting with a ribbon change out. It's the only Resistol dress felt I own, and I would hate to give up my only hat from Paducah!!

I've been lucky in finding them in different colors. I think I only have one or two silverbelly.

I think that Resistol felt and wide ribbon look great in the sunshine photo. Looks good with the center dent too.

Thanks,
Michael

I just love this back bow. They do look good with a center dent, kind of a fresh factory/off the shelf look. The color on this one is rich and chocolate like. If you are looking to set it free, I hope it wanders off to Oregon.
