A long overdue weekend feature with my Collins & Fairbanks "Extra Quality" homburg, hailing from Boston. It made its way to me from Miami... Bruno that is. I just love this hat! It has a very full crown, perfect for deep dents and a terrific center crease...

Would have loved to wear the Optimoe all day, but the wind picked up so I switched to the new to me Pimbell.

Happy Independence Day USA!!

I used part of my day to do some yard work under a piece of American history, my working man's Open Road. It has stars in the field on the sweat (no liner) so it's definitely early fifties at the latest. It had a cattleman's crease and was worn and handled so much there is almost a hole worn in it at the front flex point. I re-creased it to a diamond and it molded like clay. It must have some beaver content in it because the felt has the consistency and density of my beaver customs. Just a bullet-proof hat. It got a little damp in an unexpected rain storm that blew in while I was working in the yard. I don't know about you guys but I loooove the smell of wet, vintage felt.
