I'm still waiting on the three previous hats and now have three more I'm waiting on for a total of six hats in the post currently. What was I thinking? :eusa_doh: As far as these hats go, I'd guess I was bidding against some of the bigger-headed guys here on the forum. I have not found too many references to Rene Menard hats in the forum, so this is a bit of an unknown to me.

My new suit, a summer lightweight in linen, light blue in colour, is on the cutting table and starting to take shape. Whilst waiting, I have been trying to decide whether to buy a contrasting white or cream panama, or a matching blue. Given that I have a cream fedora panama, I have settled for the blue. However, I might add this lovely Baker Boy cap. I don't have a Baker Boy in my wardrobe, although I have a somewhat similar Balmoral.
Now I have more than one reason to be like the kid waiting for Christmas.

My Imperial Silverbelly Camp Draft is really stiff. Let us kno what u think in comparison to the Deluxe.
That may not be a good comparison. As I've mentioned here before, my Taupe Fawn Campdraft was considerably stiffer than any of my other Akubras when I received it, and they're all Imperial Quality felt. I think sometimes they just get a little carried away with the amount of stiffener they use on the hat body in front of them.

What hat were we talking abt? I forgot... I'm thinking of an Imperial quality Fed and I'm concerned that it may be alot "stiffer" than my Deluxe Fed.

You had commented about how stiff your Imperial Quality Silverbelly Campdraft was, and I was relaying my observation that some Akubra hats appear to have had more stiffener applied to them than others.

For example, since you mentioned the Fed IV, I have two Fed IVs and three Campdrafts, all Imperial Quality felt. The Feds and two of the Campdrafts had the same level of stiffness when I received them, but the third Campdraft was extremely stiff by comparison. Since the same quality of felt was used to make all five hats, I can only assume the hat body for that third Campdraft simply had more stiffener applied to it for whatever reason.

Another thought has occurred to me. I have six fur felt hats--the five Akubras I've already mentioned, and one custom hat from Cane Rod Maker. As such, I have no experience with any other hat manufacturer's products, so I wonder if Akubra uses more stiffener on their hats than everyone else and that's why you feel your Silverbelly Campdraft is so stiff?

I think Zombie is right, my Imperial Campdraft is softer than my Deluxe. I'll compare the new CD Imperial I'm waiting on when I receive it.

One Lounger said that he had both the Imperial and the Deluxe. The Deluxe is supposed to have a better sweat and a better finish to the felt. But, the Lounger said that he didn't think the felt quality and the better sweat was that much better to warrant the price difference between the two.

I agree with the Lounger that wasn't at all sure that the better sweat and finishing was worth the price difference.

Yeah, if you're trying to not buy more hats The Lounge probably isn't the best place to spend your time. lol

When we moved into our new home earlier this year, we were quite happy with the amount of closet space we had. At this point, with all the hats I've been purchasing since I found this forum, closet space is rapidly dwindling. What was I thinking? :eusa_doh:

Hat racks are a nice way to save closet space and display some of your favorites. Of course, you still need to store the boxes . . .

Some of our guys have come up with some creative ways, such as wall displays, racks, hanging closets, and the like. True on the boxes, though. Especially if, like me, you're becoming enamored of getting an appropriate box for your vintages.

Yeah, once we're moved back into the house, I will start looking into some hat racks. Right now things are too ripped up to even come up with a plan.

Yeah, don't you know that! There was a Strat box on eBay recently with a pretty reasonable BIN price that I missed out on getting. I'm still kicking myself on that one.
