When the Archie comics began, he was shown driving an ancient red touring car, already long out of fashion. Just the sort of thing one might expect a nearly penniless teen to drive at the time.
Often Betty would help him work on it, as it was constantly breaking down.
In the late 60's, he reported it stolen, and in the police report, identified it as being assembled from the parts of a dozen or so extinct brands of automobile, including Essex, Hupmobile, Maxwell, etc.
Of course, he recovered the car.
In another story, a collector offered to buy the car, and he agreed, but he changed his mind, saying how he just couldn't live without it.
More recently, I notice he is no longer driving the jalopy, but has a vintage Mustang.
When did he get rid of the jalopy?
