Something called a Fine and Dandy cocktail, from my old Old Mr. Boston De Luxe Bartender's Guide

Juice of 1/4 lemon (I used a lime)
1/2 oz triple sec
1 1/4 oz gin
dash of bitters

Stirred well, strained into martini glass (or as they said, cocktail glass)
Receipe says to serve with a cherry

Reminescent of a Boston Sidecar

Cheers Ethan!

Foxdenton..........Sloe gins...........in a couple of months, I'll be making my own..........after the first frosts, of course! Foxdenton estate is about 10 miles from my business premises.

With you on the Gin Fizz. On the whisky front, a Woodford Reserve, JD Single Barrel, or Laphroaig Quarter Cask, are at the front of my drinks cabinet.

Ah a Buckinghamshire man then? Mrs. B is huge fan of the Quarter Cask, loves the stuff. It's the only thing she drinks uncut too. She happens to be a Bucks girl herself.

I'd like to pay a visit to Foxdenton (perhaps I could combine it with a visit to the in-laws!) :)

From "The Smoke" originally, but now residing in Northampton, and working in Buckingham.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, whichever way you look at it), the neighbours also have a penchant for Laphroaig, as I found out whilst we were shovelling snow off our drives at 7am, back in January! ;-)

A word of warning, at that time of the day, a bottle only lasts two hours!

A daquiri, from the Old Mr. Boston book: rum, lime, simple syrup (the book calls for sugar).

There is a separate entry in the book for a Frozen Daquiri, which is what I think of when I hear daquiri.

Old Steve Allen quip: I went to party thrown by my doctor, and I ordered a hickory daquiri. I asked him, Where's my hickory daquiri, doc? (rimshots accompanied by groans from audience).

Straight Bourbon

I had a Bourbon and water last night. Pulled out from the back of the liquor cabinet a bottle of 100 proof Straight Bourbon Whiskey from Wellers, their 10 year old Centenial bottling.

For those that don't know most Bourbon is Straight, it's extremely rare to find blended Bourbon whiskey.

That fact makes Straight Bourbon the equivilant of Single Malt in Scotch.

An excellent value in port. There was a time not too long ago that people would laugh at California wines...........that's no longer the case......shakeshead

A couple of pints of Guinness, and a Singapore Sling for the fun of it. (I seem to recall William Powell ordering one in No Way Out, but I could be wrong.)
