I would go with the light gray. White looks the best IMO, but it really gives off way too much of both a wanna be navy and a northeastern preppy look for my tastes, unless you're dressing casually and use a pair of white jeans. That throws a wrench into most people's associations and makes them look at the style.

That's why I like Stone; it's close to White, without being White. I do wear Khaki, too.

I like all of those, though with dark grey the blazer would have to be a very dark navy IMO. Grey looks dressier, but cream is a nice look for summer without looking like a wannabe navy. I like the fact that the look can be dressed down with a blue shirt and no tie or dressed up with a white shirt and a tie (I prefer one with a bold pattern to avoid looking like I'm in a school uniform). Best of all, it works with a fedora, a straw hat or no hat and always looks equally good.

I personally wear black trousers with a navy blazer too, providing the blazer is a very light navy so that there is enough contrast with the trousers.

Two darks don't make a light.:eusa_doh:

Black with medium or dark colors such as blue always to me ends up looking awkward.

I vote for cream/ivory... white is too bright where cream/ivory is soft, is cool and will look smart with a black or navy coat... even a gray coat it would look quite nice.

Case in point.

Also, a light cool blue/gray looks smart with navy.;)

Dark / light navy? New concept to me.... navy is a shade of blue, shurely - not another colour with many shades.

I would vote for 'all of the above' - depending on the time of year. In Summer, I like white (I don't see any navy look, myself - depends what you wear, though, I guess if I adopted a sailor hat.... [huh] ) or khaki. I'm always tempted to try a very light green, but I'm not convinced that would work... Winter, I tend to prefer greys and blues. Black not so much. My old school uniform was a navy blazer with what were referred to as "charcoal grey" trousers, but were actually so far as the human eye could perceive, black. To me it doesn't look so much wrong as like a school uniform to wear black and navy thus, especially if the shirt is white!

I like a contrast of light / dark best, and there are some colours that can work with a navy blazer in a very light shade, but just don't when darker - see browns, 'light fawn' and 'chocolate' for example. Another important thing is, as ever, to ensure (especially important when wearing blues) that the trousers are sufficiently distinct from the jacket so as to avoid looking like a poor attempt to mimic a lounge suit with pieces sourced separately.

In my opinion, with a navy blue blazer, any color is acceptable for trousers. Personally, I wear dark gray, navy, or black with mine. Winter or summer makes no difference. :)

How about a Navy blazer with Powder Blue trousers, both in linen, with white espadrilles or bucks. Think about it.:cool2:
