Eddie, good jacket, It looks like late 1960s-early 70s? the shoulders look quite wide in a classic way, which works with your ensemble.
Often you find very wide lapels with very narrow shoulders on 1970s jackets which looks unbalanced.
The fob pocket on the trousers is a nice feature.

Thanks! I've struggled to date it. I know corduroy jackets had their revival in the 1970s, so I've had to assume that it is from then, because it holds no 1960s features really. I mean, I guess it could be older, but that label suggests to me that it isn't. I don't know when viscose came about? Either way, it has the desired look for me!
And thanks, the trousers are ones I had made. They also have a fishtail back and a cinch-buckle on the rear.

Yesterday I had a day out to London to listen to The Royal Philharmonic at The Albert Hall and on the way I stopped to look at this magnificent memorial dedicated to all the brave lads who served with Bomber Command.

Yesterday I had a day out to London to listen to The Royal Philharmonic at The Albert Hall and on the way I stopped to look at this magnificent memorial dedicated to all the brave lads who served with Bomber Command.

Looking great! I know it can get very warm in London this time of year and you look more than suitably dressed! And echoing Fading Fast, there is a presence associated with those type of memorials.

I believe that viscose is essentially the same as rayon, so it has been around for a while.

Sharp as razors Frank, Eddie, and Dreamofgilgamesh!! You guys look great. I'm envious, its 92° (33° to you Brits) and climbing here. Far too warm for a jacket.

And yes, Megatron, viscose is essentially the same as rayon. It's been around since the 20s, when 'artificial silk' was invented. Rayon is a synthetic fabric, derived from natural sources, I.e. wood pulp from bamboo or sugar cane. I can't help but chuckle when I see the many articles of trendy clothing being marketed to the eco-friendly set as "sustainable bamboo" fabric. It's just plain old rayon, folks. Only difference is the price they're asking. [emoji14]

I am a big fan of rayon really. It's just as nice as silk in many cases but more durable.

I think my dear old Mum must have encouraged me to walk too soon. Funny thing is my dear Son has exactly the same bow legged look as me.

I have a photo of him wearing that same tie that is dated on the back "May, 1965." I have a number of his old ties from the late 1950s through the late 1970s. My Dad was a teacher at Oak Hill School from 1949 to 1979, and was the Principal of the school from 1952 to 1979. It is fun to go back through all the old school year books and see what tie that I may still have in the photo from any given year.

My Dad always liked a good tie. He said that when the narrow ties came in to fashion in the 1960s, he got rid of his wide ties from the 1940s and 1950s. as the wider ties came back in fashion in the 1970s, he decided to hold on to the narrow ties because he said that one day they would be back and he didn't want to make the mistake he'd made with his wide ties.

I now have three boxes of very nice narrow ties, most of which look almost brand new. Dad packed them away in 1974 (as that was the date he wrote on the boxes).
