Big Man, I know that you, I and about everyone on this forum dislike the "gangster" references, but your stance and expression honestly make you look like you are fixing to "take someone for a ride" - or that you are investigating something pretty serious - equally convincing as either an old time lawman or a torpedo - Great car, too!!

I wouldn't take them for a ride, I'd just make them an offer they couldn't refuse. ;)

This is what I wore going up to Boston to Salmagundi to pick up my hats.

All the Best , Fashion Frank

Frank, brilliant, as per usual! I bet Boston didn't know what hit it! :eusa_clap

Can I take the liberty of asking whether you've always been as spiffily turned out or was there a point where you decided that you were gonna do so? For my part, I got fed up of folks who dressed like kids treating me like summat on the bottom of their shoes – sorry, I meant to type ugly, overpriced sneakers – and thought 'well, if I've gotta listen to their hoopla, at least I can out dress 'em'! :D

The good Lady Badger and yers truly, snapped last nite by a pal at the 'club in a pub' bash I co-run, watching the rockabilly band we had on – I don't normally put a suit on to DJ, but we'd been at a friends' wedding all day and hadn't changed...

Sharp look - I really like that suit.

Yes, it does take a bit of the old digital elbow grease, not to mention really thinking about what you actually want, especially if you haven't got a huge amount of money to order things from such august manfacturers as Mister Freedom, RRL, etc. However, the hunt is half the fun – these days, the 'trickle down' effect of 'fashion', and the rapid churn of culture, means that occasionally stylish and desirable items do make it your local High Street retailers (well, those who haven't gone bust!)... for instance, I make an occasional search for "tab collar shirt" on Google, limiting the results to the UK, and you could have 'knocked me down with a feather' when I saw that Next currently have a White Poplin Tab Collar Shirt for £20, undoubtedly due to Daniel Craig wearing a similar one (a pricey Tom Ford, I believe) in the latest Bond movie... mostly, it's a case of 'get it while you can / when you see it', then it's gone, and our fellow FLers in North America seem to have the same occasional luck with Target, et al...

I've had great luck with Sainsburys for casual shirts in the last few years... there are currently a couple more i have my eye on that have a very Forties workwear look to them. Actually one denimesque shirt currently in stock there bears a very strong resemblance to one of the USN war-era workshirts.

Thanks, Edward, I'm really pleased with it, not least cos I practically know the whole history of it, or have worked it out. That's thanks to a combo of the bespoke nametag inside the pocket, a table card for the guy's 40th, the fact that the pants had to be let out at some point, and a selection of port, gravy and gawd knows what stains – all of which washed out, incidentally! :D

Interesting tip about Sainsburys, never thought to look there, as the biggest of our local ones doesn't have clothing... just goes to show that you really do have to, as Shaw Taylor used to put it on TV's Police Five, "Keep 'em peeled"! Or, as he's asking here, 'have you seen this Badger?'!!!

Funny Mr. Badger that you should ask,
because I just happened upon your post to me , but I was looking for your
original post with the shot of you and your lovely wife ,because I wanted to tell you that between the color of your hat and how it click's with your tie and how that in turn also click's with the checks in your suit ,not to mention how your wife's
color selection in her outfit and how it compliment's your ensemble as well !

Well now that I have divulged to you my envy of your's and your wife's ensemble, I guess I can also divulge to you how
I arrived at the present state of attire that " graces " the pages of this great forum.

I started dressing better because I am a great lover of swing jazz ,you know big band swing .
Well I'm up to and over 600 c d's and going strong or as my little one says , " dad you don't listen to anything past 1949"

So as I researched more and more about big bands and there are hundred's of them , I always noticed in
pictures that these "hep cat's " would always be dressed to the nines , I mean really sharp looking.

So the more I dug and researched the more I realized that everyone one was "dressed properly " all the time back in the "day" , that's just the way it was ,I even saw a picture of a big ball game and there in the stands were guys with hats
and shirts and ties ,jackets off but on the seat it being summer and all.

Same thing with the gal's, all "dressed properly" and so I really kept just thinking about it and I thought wow what the
f&*k has happened to this country where all the women walk around in sweat pants and ponytails and the guys wear dirty low hanging jeans and an undershirt IE : t- shirt with some rude saying on it or in summer it's flip flops, cargo shorts and t shirt the uniform of the great unwashed masses.

When I was a kid growing up and being Italian and all we always went to my Grandmas for a big chow down after
Holy Mass every Sunday.

I remember one Sunday going over there when I was in my late teens and I showed up in jeans in a t shirt , and of course my grandma being old school Italian ,and again talking about being " dressed properly " back in the day , she started
yelling at me stating " look at you Frankie ,did you go to church dressed like that ( busted ,didn't go to church ) because you look like a bum , " and she would keep repeating " you look like a bum" over and over .

So one day it all kinda just clicked for me and I said to myself no more crappy clothes or as grandma would say no more
"looking like a bum " and that was it .

Now 18 suits later ,tons of hats and counting etc. etc .and now it's no looking back !

In closing I like the way I feel and look when I leave the house and the compliments unsolicited that I garner abound and I get better service from people and most importantly I give and command respect and I like it that way !

Hope that answers it for you .

All the Best ,Fashion Frank

Frank, I can't fault your reasoning there, sir! Brilliant tale about your Grandma, too! :eusa_clap

Alas, the weather's often rainy here, because we're in a valley, and I walk to work and back so I can't wear 'proper' clothes or they will simply get ruined by spray from passing traffic. However, I think that you can dress well without looking, as your dear Grandma put it, "like a bum"!

Today was damp, with a heavy chance of rain, but a little warmer than recently (7C) so I went for a Levi's Vintage Clothing repro sweatshirt, Freddies of Pinewood 1940s jeans, Highwayman, Big Apple cap, Dents leather gloves, vintage grey Tootal scarf w/black pin dots & tassels and black engineer boots – but I think I was still far better clad than most!

Funny that you should mention the "dark side " lol of clothing ,such as my work uniform and your attire , you wear what makes sense , for what your doing .

This is my 7 to 4 "monkey suit " provided for by the firm ,and it's great because you don't ruin your own clothes as you
stated .

I went a little more casual today as well, I also wanted to wear the new vest I made so I worked that in
Other wise i'm wearing vintage edwardian trousers and button up boots and some vintage braces

I thought the back of these trousers are worth noting because of the nice buckle and tailoring but also the unusual upward flap back pocket

and my beat up old button boots

I think it's very sharp. I think it looks better with the dark shirt, to be honest. It gives a good contrast to the tie.
Great suit, I like the contrasting buttons. And a great roll to the lapel!
Not only is that a great looking suit, it looks really good on you. You have the body type to carry off a DB. I've never felt comfortable in a DB suit, it just doesn't hang correctly.
Great. This makes me wonder how double breasted suits got so ugly in the 1980s and 90s!

Thanks fellas, That suit was find from Lounge. Quite coarse and hard to press. Interiors are always wrinkling fabric somewhat during ironing but it's not supposed to be just for show but for use :p

Today was winterwonderland day and I had to take mandatory winterpic.

Hard to take decent photos in that weather and arm is too short for fullbody shot.
Suit is my repro serge suit and does its job well and does not let melting snow in. To My Akubre Fed IV this is just another day at the office.
