Trying to be collegiate at college today! Sweater by Man 'O Karma circa 1947, trousers from the early 50s, made of Palm Beach fabric.

Great vintage look Big Man. What's the low down on those gaiters? They really take it up a notch.

I've looked for a vintage style pair of gaiters/leggings, but (so far) haven't found any big enough to fit me. I'm wearing puttees in the above photo. Puttees are long strips of wool cloth, wound around the legs. They were widely used during WW I. They did a good job keeping the snow out of the tops of my boots. Puttees reach to just below the knee on "normal" people, but for me they only reach mid-calf. I guess I could make my own and use about twice the length of cloth. May be a project one of these days.

Thanks for the info.
Many, many years ago a friend had some heavy canvas ones he got from an army/navy surplus store, but I can't remember the last time when there was even one of those still around here.
They weren't something I ever thought I needed........until just now.

Thanks for the compliments on the sweater in my last post, guys. Much appreciated. Today: all thirties, all original, except the shirt's by Luxire. A bit springy/summery for the freezing weather here in Providence, but oh well! Might as well dress like it's warmer.

No sartorial prizes for me today. Old blue gym trousers and a black t-shirt. This morning I was also wearing both of my recent hat purchases as I was steaming a bash into them, This evening I am wearing my Wesco boots that I am slowly breaking in, having rubbed in mink oil by hand and now just walking about, flexing the ankles and squatting down every now and then. Seems to be working. No photo as that would be so wrong!

My granddaughter and me on our way to church this morning. She got a new hat so she could "be like Granddaddy." :)
