A lot of character in that one, Mark. I've got a Dobbs 20 fedora that looks 'lived in' like that. It looks like a working man's hat from back in the day. I didn't change it. I left it as is.
I agree 100%, Terry. I prefer most of my hats to be well kempt to at least a substantial degree. But every now and then, I just want to put on one whose working history is more apparent. :D

Another relatively recent acquisition: a Resistol Comanche, in cordova color, from the Stagecoach Collection.

Nothing at all special today, except the memory of a peaceful, scenic, 90-minute drive out into the farmlands west of Boise early one Sunday morning, and a nice conversation with a lady selling a hat from a family estate she was settling. It's a Bailey New West, that I place as probably dating from the early 80s.

I have a Resistol 5 X from the late 80’s. It’s marked “ThinBrim” on the sweat. I’ve never really thought about it till now. Anyone know what this model was vs other Resistol hats of that era? I have newer hats of 100% beaver that don’t have a nicer hand than my old stand by.

There were so many uniquely named hats back then. I wish more had the names stamped in them like the ORs, Strats, and Sovereign Twenties we still find today.

Just a kinda random question but are liners sized? Or are they generic that can be made to fit what ever size hat?

We need some bright person here to invent a time machine and we can take a group trip for hat shopping!

One of two hats that arrived yesterday, this tan Stetson bears the sweatband embossing “Western Royal Stetson” and shows it was originally sold by The Western Wardrobe in Littleton, CO. My non-expert estimation is that it's an early 60s vintage, (maybe a Country Squire?) and I'd consider it a "businessman's western." Another one that came to me in absolutely pristine condition!

Since we know several manufacturers made hats for other companies, Ive always been curious if those hats were built to customers specs or if they were the same as the regular line hats with a diffeent sweat and liner. For example a Stetson Rancher might have been the same as Billy Bobs Western Wear store Armadillo model ?

Very nice.

An excellent “goin’ into town” hat.

I get so caught up with the OR style and the Rancher crease, I sometimes forget there are many more very classic and timeless western styles to explore. I like that one a lot, Mark. Thanks for sharing.

I have no real knowledge, but like you, I wonder if Miller Stockman may have named some hats for their ads that were never actually named by Stetson.

Your profile picture reminded me of another one I've seen. Do you play a guitar?
