Thanks Greg. Boots are on my shopping list :)

I hear you about the brim. It's very stiff at the minute. Despite a lot of steam, I only managed to flatten it slightly. I'm planning on keeping working on it though.
On stiff thick felted brims, water, not steam, is your best friend. Get the brim just wet enough to where you can easily shape it. When you get the shape you want, set your hat aside and let it dry.

They do take some work, water and steam. I was looking through my westerns and I can’t remember one that I didn’t eventually iron the brim flat and start from scratch with the exception of a 4x6 OC one I bought that came with a flat brim. Once flat, with the exceptions of the ones with a curl, all you need are your thumbs, thigh and chest. No shovel front brims, please.

I've been having fun playing around with shaping my new to me Akubra Woomera.
Found some great inspiration on this thread especially from @T Jones and @Hurricane Jack. Thanks guys.
I finally came up with this: a before and so some after shots.

Have a great weekend folks.

Very cool, Steve. That’s a lot of hat to work with and I really like the crease. I’m not at all surprised that you can pull off this style.

Thanks for the advice Greg. This one is definitely a work in progress.

Montecristi Custom Hat Works:

A favorite Brent!

Bob H. graciously passed this, what I believe to be a 30s Arminto, along to me. This is Arminto #2 (other one is black) in as many weeks, crazy huh? Sun was setting over the err .. parking lot .. so I had to crank brights. Hats gonna get a bath hopefully tomorrow.

You wear it well Mike! Can't wait to see how it cleans up.

Nutria Quality

Love the wide ribbon and thin binding on this one Greg. Great looking hat!
