Wedding attire advise :)

I am going to a wedding in June, it will be in Michigan so the weather should be pretty nice. I have lots of time to plan so I am looking for suggestions. I want to make my dress, so if ya'll have some patterns you could recommend that would be great!

I usually start with the hat, actually. It's a lot harder (for me) to find a fabulous hat than it is to make a dress to match it.

That said, try Vintage Vogue patterns. They've reissued many of their vintage patterns, updated for modern sewers, and available in your average fabric store.

Oh and I just found out that the reception is going to be a tropical theme. That works great since I live in Florida and love the tropics. My husband is also the photographer for the wedding so I will be helping him a bit.

It is a border print. When you shop for fabric, look for something where the pattern is all along one selvedge only. It is in a straight line on the fabric, you create the circle when you put the skirt together. So, in this case the width of the fabric will determine the max length of the skirt, since the vertical line is running from selvedge to selvedge instead of parallel to it.
