Washing silk scarves/ cravats

I have a few all silk scarves and cravats , now I never thought about it before (possibly because I am a relative newbie) but how do you wash these items? a couple of the labels state dry clean only...surely a tepid/cold handwash would be ok with a very gentle detergent???

A cold wash and lay out to dry. My wife and I have the same argument over of all things, denim jeans. I do not get them "dirty" in the sense of mud etc. She insists they be washed every time they are worn....me....not nearly that frequently.
