I've driven past when I've been visiting friends in Warrnambool, seen the "Vintage Clothing" sign there and wondered if I should go in. I was with my husband whose tolerance for shopping is, unfortunatly, very low so I decided not to. Hmm... it looks like I should have checked it out. I don't have friends living there anymore so there's little excuse to visit (it's 3 hours drive from where I live).

The Sad Story of Manfacturing in the Western World

It took another 20 years after FJ's death for the company to succumb to the same fate. The abolition of tariffs and cheap imports are often cited as reason for the failure of the company and although the factories
have been closed for the past decade, the chain of retail stores, brand name and label still live on, although under new ownership.

The problem is that you pay the same price as locally made for what the experts tell me is rubbish. A second hand clothing dealer told me a lot of the clothing made today cannot be recycled it is so bad.

Interesting - will take a trip in the next few weeks and have a look. My wife and i have been meaning to visit friends down there anyway so we were going to have a weekend there anyway. I was interested in getting a look in the mill anyway after seeing a great doco on FJ on the ABC a few months ago.
