Wanted to buy: Vintage - 7 3/4

If by chance there are any Loungers out there with a big head like mien, and who might have a lid that does not suit them; I would be interested in purchasing it. I'd sure love to add some quality vintage lids to my small collection and figured I'd drop a line in hopes of a response.

Preferable, I am looking for a tall untapered crown, and brim outwards to 2 3/4 inches. I'd really like a Borso and a Stetson in my collection, but will consider what ever you might have to offer.

I am also looking for a vintage Panama.

Thanks in advance !

Don't know if you're interested, but I have a couple that I am willing to let go-

Vintage Stetson Homburg in good condition.

A vintage Borsalino Torino.

Let me know and we can talk about more detail and price.

I'd be interested in hearing from you guys, too. I've been stymied in my attempts to find vintage hats for my huge head.

On Hiatus. Really. Or Not.
Here's what I've got...

Photos to come:

(1) Light/medium gray Stetson Whippet. High, untapered crown (hard to measure). Unbashed appears to be as much as 6 in. Bashed, front = 4.5 in rear = 4 in. Brim = 2.0 in. Charcoal gray ribbon (original) is 1.875 in. Original liner included, but hat is presently unlined. Hat cleaned and blocked into open crown by Art Fawcett, who also added a new light brown roan leather sweatband. Hat is a true 7.75 size. No moth damage. The ONLY small flaw is a light pinkish discoloration in the felt at line of original bash on right side. Felt is VERY soft and thin. If the crown on this hat were about an inch shorter, I'd be keeping it for sure. Since this is a Whippet, I need to get $150.00 for it. (All prices are exclusive of actual shipping charges, which will be USPS Priority Mail with full insurance.) THIS HAT'S BEEN WORN OUTSIDE ABOUT FIVE TIMES.

(2) Milk chocolate brown Rogers Peet & Co. fedora. Crown unbashed is 5 in. with a slight taper front and rear. Brim is 2 in. Navy blue ribbon (added by Art) is 1.625 in. Hat was cleaned, blocked, and returned to a full 7.75 in size. It was NOT upsized from a smaller size. Optimo also added a new brown roan leather sweatband. The felt is very soft but substantial, and the color combination is VERY rich. This hat looks terrific with either a camel hair tan or navy blue top coat. The only reason I am selling it is that my wife had Art make me a chocolate with chocolate ribbon for Christmas. Comes with original liner (cleaned) which can be removed. The ONLY blemishes on this one are two VERY small (i.e. pin prick) holes that seem to be too small to be moth bites. (I only mention this so that there's no buyer's remorse.) I've got nearly $200 into this one. I'm ready to let it go to a good home for $150.00 + shipping. THIS HAT HAS BEEN OUT OF THE HOUSE TWICE.

(3) Eight panel charcoal newsboy cap from the 1920s. Sold to me by Marc Chevalier for $100. Don't tell Marc these facts: Cleaned by Optimo who added a new silk liner and roan leather sweatband. (I kept the original liner which while authentic was fairly groady and I just couldn't see putting it on my head.) The hat is beyond RARE. You will NEVER, EVER, see another one of these. If this style suited me, I'd keep it in the family and pass it down to my youngest son. Sadly, I'm just NOT a newsboy cap kinda guy. I have to get back most of the $180 I've got into it. Asking $165.00 + shipping and handling.

I will try to upload photos later today. Right now, I'm heading outside to enjoy the WONDEROUS sun!!

PS: I also have a chocolate brown Stratoliner that's not really my style (get's little use), but since I collect TWA and Stetson Stratoliner memorabilia, you'll probably have to dig me up from six feet under to get me to part with it.

In that size? You're absolutely right. :)

Zemke what circumference is the newsboy?

It is labeled as a 7 3/4. I can't remember the exact circumference, but Zemke should.

Wow, if that's my old Whippet, it's really gone up in value in a few months ;)
Good luck CRM, vintage in that size has been hard to find, and those prices seem to keep going up. Frank
