I'm looking for a store that has, like, dozens of rooms. Some 20x20' with 15' tall ceilings, say. Some normal hallways. But also plenty of narrow halls and tiny rooms and narrow, narrow spiral stairs -- places you almost have to squeeze to get into. Where it's kind of hard to get past other people in the store. And where you can't see where you're going. A store you can get lost in. This store might have to be in another country. It would be a fire hazard. But worth it. It would be ornate in places. It would have a variety of functions -- historic displays, retail sales of art, apparel and books. There would be strange social spaces. It would likely be old as it reminds me of a castle perhaps. An eccentric place that wouldn't be legal to build in modern places.
Any ideas, links, pics? : )
I suppose I'm riffing a bit on a restaurant like Derriere which I read about in Paris: http://derriere-resto.com/restaurant/paris/derriere/about/
Combined with a bit of Bishop's Castle in CO, perhaps: http://www.post-gazette.com/stories...-bishops-vision-is-a-work-in-progress-444045/
