Visitor to USA looking for shopping

I have a work colleague who is visiting the US for 3 weeks or so. He and his wife are interested in some vintage clothing shopping while they are there

They are passing through San Fran, LA, New York and an exotic place called "Ventura". (sorry I can't be more specific re the localities).

Can anybody suggests some vintage stores they can visit in those areas ? I suppose bigger places where they can be sure to find some good buys would be best.

I wish I could help you, but I no longer live in California. However I am sure someone should "pipe in" and have some information for you. I do know that at times some second hand stores may have some vintage items, but have no clue about them in the area you are asking.
