Vintage Ties Article

While a lot of work has gone into the article, this (below) is just wrong, and a common misconception of 20s and 30s men's fashions in general (i.e. that designs and styles were conservative compared to the 1940s and later). 1920s ties are often wildly colourful (and popular) - the jazz era crazily designed ties of the 1920s are almost iconic! The 1920s ties often feature the craziest designs.

you should know that 1920s and 1930s ties were more about texture, simple designs and understatement. It’s in the 1940s that the colorful silk ties with wild designs became popular.

"When wearing the basic tie, the usual rule is you want the tip of the tie to touch the middle of your belt buckle. "

That's one 'rule' that irritates me. I rather like the short tie look. And what does it matter if you are wearing a waistcoat?
