I;ve been reading Fit to be Tied and they talk about tie swapping clubs in the 30's and 40's. So I was wondering if anyone was interested in doing it here on the lounge. I have a couple of ties I'd like to trade I'll post pics later.

Red Tootal cotton rayon blend, made in england (don't know age)
Arrow neat print brocadish tie, (I think 30's)

no stains, holes, or frays.

looking for 40's ties, post war, big patterns, would especially like a palm tree or initial ties either M or D.

Nick, check your PM

Pic 1, tie 1 (copper color w/red leaf burst) and pic 2, tie 4 (navy w/yellow/grey hibiscus) are reserved for you.

If anyone else happens on this: I'm looking for 1930s-40s patterned ties (as opposed to picture panels), hopefully no shorter than 48" as I wear a 17 neck. I'll also consider solids, moirés and such in an interesting color.

I suppose I am fairly conservative in my tastes. I have many ties that are tone on tone. I usually save the bright yellows, reds and blues for when I wear neutral colored clothing.
The shapes of yours are great and I tend to like that style, (I rarely wear thin ties) however they may be a bit bolder than I am used to. The Tewa I picked up over the weekend for four dollars along with a few others.

Well, I am going to throw this one into the ring. It isn't really my style, so I never end up wearing it. I usually go more for simple styles like the ties Nick Charles posted. I am sure someone can give this tie a good home?

Great idea.

Here's mine. All I think are from the thirties. From left to right:
1. Assuming it to be silk. From The Higbee Co., a defunct department store in Cleveland Ohio. 48" long by 4 wide.
2. All silk. From The Halle Bros. Co. another defunct department store here. Longish at 53" long by 3-1/2 wide.
3. Also from Halle's, about 46-1/2" by 3-1/2" made of a light cotton material.
Looking for bold patterns myself, like Fletch's 2nd pic, 4th tie.
