Dear all!

Tuppence and yours truly is having a grand time indeed in Londonium.
Chelsea Flower show yesterday.
Jermyn Street extravaganza ended with high tea at Fortnums this afternoon.
Shop til you drop!

Now slightly intoxicated. Away for a nice curry & beers in 30 mins.
Will top it off with an evening of ska & rocksteady.
Gonna wriggle my bum with the best of them (Tuppence B.).

Tomorrow will be dedicated to hunting down vintage sunglasses for Tuppence.
Recommendations as to hunting grounds?

Cheers!

I'm not sure that it is still there - since Camden Council (with £££s in their eyes) turned the market into a concrete and glass haven for the purchase of smelly candles and other "craft" items, a process begun about 2004, it's really not been the same. A lot of the better places moved East - round Brick Lane etc might be a better bet. In and around Spitalfields can be on the expensive side (especially be wary of a place called Absolute Vintage which seems to specialise in over-priced 80s tat), but there's a few places off Brick Lane where you can turn up interesting stuff. I suspect if you're more interested in vintage style than originality, you'll also be more likely to find something suitable.

Thanks for the update, Edward- I moved to Scandinavia in 2000 and have probably only been back to Camden once, probably in 2002.

Yeah, i figured it had changed since you were there last. It's still worth seeing, but don't expect it to be what it was - alas, Camden Council didn't know what they had. :(

Dear all.

Followed your advice and struggled through clouds of burning incense, the noise of thumping "Goa-Trance" etc.

Found Arckiv after a loooooong and stressfull search.
Camden Lock not what it was, that's for sure...

Arckiv was a well hidden & friendly kind of place, just next to the Black Cotton Vintage Stall.
Lots of specs for sale, but my dear Tuppence struggled to find something to her liking...
Thank you for the advice though...

Later; a friend recommended a visit to The Emporium, which was said to be exactly what we were looking for.
Unfortunably we were unable to fit this into our timetable.
