Vintage Stetson - The Sovereign?

Now for the good stuff........a late 50's Stetson Twenty/Sovereign......5 1/2 crown, 2 1/2 brim....felt is awesome!! Bash as found. Wind cord is JUST visable at the bottom of the ribbon, button is tucked under the bow. I chose to leave it like that. Has sewn liner with protector behind th sweat.......I cannot get to the tags as the liner comes down over them......has fractional keyhole size tag.....,I am in love with this hat.....I call it my Bankers Special .

A Twenty dollar hat then was a bit nicer than a $20 hat today. Has some staining on the liner as you can see and there are a few spots on the felt. I'll try to clean it up one of these days. The sweat seems to be in excellent condition.

Looks like a great hat. WIth a bit of steaming and brushing it'll be back to its former glory in no time.

1960's Sovereign, custom 2-3/4" RE X 5-3/4" open, 2-cord ribbon. Needs a bit of straightening up yet, now that it's dry from the rework.

1950's - 1960's Sovereign sweat embossing with lazy "O".

As might be expected with a custom order no inventory or reorder tags were found. No $20 price tag. Felt & hand are much better than any of my 3X's & my Twenty-five, but my Twenty-five is late in the production run.

Don't know the significance of the red striped liner.

1960's maple leaf crest & embossing. No crest protector in liner.

Pre metric rectangular size tag.

Google search for a William or Bill Bever has not produced a good possible match.

Wonderful liner. My crappy eyesight read "Bill Beaver" and I thought what a great name for a hat guy!

Here I have one of the last of the breed (before the sellout). A Stetson Sovereign with the felted "mode edge". Has the pre-metric square tag, wide ribbon with wind cord and is quite tapered as was the style of the mid-60's. Felt is actually not too bad.......Darker than the photo's it is a rich chocolate brown with a dark brown/grey ribbon and cord.
