Ha! This is the first time I saw this post and this thread. I almost posted pics of that hat again when I saw the thread come upThis one now belongs to Roger and has quite possibly the nicest Felt I've ever handled

Roger, thanks. It's nice but doesn't hold a candle to your OR version! That makes me weak in the knees!
These license hats are really interesting. Of note is the "Times Square" on the Mfg tag. Hmmmmm?I have a few Stetson hats, most of which were made under license in England by Failsworth (the company that held the license from 1948 onwards). I have never seen a Stetson Sovereign that was made under license before but this one i picked up recently. Stetson Sovereign in grey, size 57, overwelt edge at 5,5cm and crown at 10,5 cm at the pinch. A very well made hat with lovely felt, that shapes easily and it came in the original box too. Bert Schrier, Leiden, the Netherlands, the shop that sold it, still exists today. My guess would be late fifties or early sixties.

It's only a speculative guess, but as Times Square is known worldwide, using it implies that Stetson has a hat store there, or maybe some sort of franchise within a large store, the way Estee Lauder sell their fragrances in Macey's.These license hats are really interesting. Of note is the "Times Square" on the Mfg tag. Hmmmmm?
I must have overlooked this comment, sorry about that Red. It's a superb hat, I was somewhat annoyed, having paid $55.00 dollars carriage, when the UK courier left a note asking me to collect my package. (the hat) The reason they couldn't deliver it was because I had to pay import duty of £8:50. I really thought that part of the fifty five dollars was the duty. Never mind, I got over it once I tried on the hat.Looks good on you. How is the felt/quality?
Nice looking.
