Hi there everyone. Regarding the Stetson pictured in this thread http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?t=7260

All you detectives?¢‚Ǩ¬¶the game is afoot!
I carefully looked behind the sweatband today (man that leather is fragile!) There are two small paper stickers that resemble old ticket stubs like you get at a carnival. One is red and tan (tan due to age I would say) It has three panels that read:

John B Stetson Co.
Block, Depth, Finish
The info there is handwritten in pencil.
Block 235, Depth 5 ?Ǭæ, Finish (is unreadable due to the penmanship.)

The second ticket is smaller, brown and tan and reads:

To Duplicate Mention
C928590
Also give size wanted

So?¢‚Ǩ¬¶.thoughts? Ideas? Information?

Thanks,
Magus

When I get home I will post a picture of such a 30s tag to see if it matches. I am guessing it is surely 30s from that description. Anything on the liner such as the London, Paris, New York around the Stetson shield?

Regards,

J

Hi James,

No, Unfortunatly I don't have a liner for it...but I am posting on here to try and find one...soooo.....if ya have one laying around... :)

Hahahahahh! Oh I see now. :eusa_doh: :p
I really do not have an extra that a hat is not using. ;)
I'll post a picture of what you are looking for as well when I get home.
I don't mean to hijakc the thread but it reminds me that I just got a midnight blue Stetson in that has the same attributes yours does---except mine is a shorter brim and a two toned ribbon. Quite strange. It has a black sweatband as well but I think it is original to the hat. Hmmmmm.... Now there is a real mystery. :cool2:

Well the main thing that I am after in this thread is some info on the hat based on the stickers undert the band. Thanks a Ton for your assistance in this :) .

Simply your tag tells you that it was old enough to be before computers because it was handwritten. ;) The red and white tag states the block used is #235, the crown is 5 3/4 inches tall, the finish would be something like plush, normal, suede or the like. I know what you mean about illegible though. I can't tell what mine says under finish either. :p The tag is clearly 30s by your description.
The second ticket is just like a reorder number. That would get you a hat just like the one you have from the factory. Make sure you give them your correct size. ;)

J
