Hello Ladies! I was not sure if where to put this thread, I did a general search for slang threads, if anyone finds one be sure to let me know! Ooh, and merge if there is!

Anyway, I am planning a vintage get-together with a few friends at a pub we frequent, and I've looked up loads of speakeasy slang, 1940's and the like, and was wondering, does anyone here use vintage slang? If you do, does anyone understand it other than you?

I use 'Moxy' often, "so-and-so has Moxy" and I often get a look of confusion from the person I said it to. I'm worried they thought it was some sort of insult - when it was a complement, and it is beyond my efforts to explain it everytime I say it. This ever happen to any of you ladies?

I've been wondering how people do searches on things like hat patterns or cooking or slang and come up empty. [huh] Are they clicking on Search and using the search function?

There are a few threads on specialized slang and a very long one on general slang. If you click on Search, then Advanced search, type slang under key words, and select "thread titles only," you'll see all of them. :)
