Vintage sewing books

I was wondering if the Ladies (and visiting crafting Gents) of the Powder Room have recommendations for vintage sewing books, and why you find a certain book particularly useful.

I couldn't find any thread on precisely this subject but please merge if I've missed something!

I have a few vintage sewing books, but the one I find myself using the most is a 40's Simplicity manual. It's straightforward & easy to use.
I bought it from ebay & it didn't cost very much.

Look for sewing books by Adele P. Margolis--she was the Emily Post of home sewing. Luckily, her books still turn up regularly at used book shops.

This is my main source for patterns of the era, as there is no market here for the vintage sewing patterns you girls find. I don't buy from e-bay etc, so...

The site has other books as well, sewing books without patterns, if you want only that! Check the other decades!

Anyway, it's a very authentic way to make clothes, if you feel like drafting patterns! I like the idea very much myself.
