A unique 30s flight jacket, worn by Irish-American actor George Brent in two movies:

God’s Country and the Woman (1937)

and Racket Busters (1938).

More than 10 years ago, Mark Fischer of Superior Flight Apparel made a custom-built jacket inspired by this style (source: http://vintageengineerboots.blogspot.com/2012/06/superior-flight-apparel.html):

He rebranded to Norshor now. Great jackets.
The leather on that 30s flight jacket looks nicer than the Victoria SRL stuff I've got from him now. It could just be aged though and mine is still only a year young.

A Japanese-American family at the Manzanar internment camp, most likely in 1942:

They likely shopped at Sears:

Man's jacket, (F/W 1941) with epaulets and a different cuff design, but same closure and pocket configuration:

Boy's jacket (same catalog):
Boi.jpeg

Both jackets are also featured in the F/W 1942 catalog.

Another picture, same camp, same period, interesting mainly for the shoes and what looks like a barely worn Levis 506XX.

Very cool. Lots going on in the first pic. The guy in front is about to get his back slapped. They are leaving some aircraft facility, with cops and people in the window above looking on. Strikers?

Second pic also tremendously impactful - could be a painting, a study of the guy in front and others. Brilliant.

Yep this was end of a successful strike at an airplane manufacturing plant I believe, I’d have to back and find the original but it’s from the LA Times photo archive IIRC!
