This Sportclad is dated February 1941. Not sure if this a Roughwear.

Recently acquired this crosszip shacket, The Scalawag by Shirtcraft. It features somewhat rare Waldes Kover-Zips where fabric hides the teeth:

A couples ads from the 40s:

Maybe @photo2u can add more about this style of zipper?
Very interesting! I like the ads too
I've never such a style!

Took a bit of time but here are some photos of the recent 30s admiral byrd that was for sale.

I figured since not many of these show up online, id chip in and post it on here for all of you lovely people! I had put the initial bid at 110 when i saw it pop up and just kept my eye on it until the final moment.

Needless to say im going to be taking a bit of a break on ebay to recover XD

I would have bet my house that it was going to Japan. Glad to see it went to someone here. Would love to see fit pics of this guys as well as the late 30’s black half belt you got.

Between this and that black half belt I’m sure you do! Both are unique one of a kind gems. Congrats!

Congratulations! A beautiful jacket indeed. Well worth the money. What magnificent leather!

@jeo is this an example of Freid Osterman? Isn't this the same jacket, like mine and the black jacket posted in the Block thread.

This jacket has me questioning the Admiral Byrd label.

I look forward to dating the zipper. I see the grommets, certainly pre-war..

The Aviator style is really winning my heart!

Thank you!

Congrats to your awesome topline purchase as well. Cant wait to see more of it!
Thanks! My friend who is proxying for me just got it. Hopefully he will be able to ship it to me shortly.

@jeo glad to hear such a positive description of the leather. I'm really excited to feel how different it is to the rather thick ponyhide on my Seattle Woolen aviator.

I’m not sure but it doesn’t look like it to me.

Essentially the same jacket but made out of pony where the others are ‘regular’ horsehide and with different buckles and a different label and lining obviously.

Here’s another variation on this jacket with the Byrd label. Note the low adjusters. Also looks like 4 tucks instead of 6.

This jacket has me questioning the Admiral Byrd label.

They had multiple different makers. I think this is the only label I’ve found with a manufacturer name on it. I suspect at least two other makers.
