Vintage black Old England Hatters fedora with back-bow. This is a beautiful hat which I think is safe to say is from the 30s or older. The hat has been well preserved and features a 2 3/4" brim with an overwelt edge and a tall 6" open crown which is wrapped in a matching black grosgrain ribbon with back-bow. Inside features a wide 2" textured unreeded leather sweatband which has a taped seam. The sweatband is in good shape and still has plenty of life. There is a size 7 1/2 sticker on the sweatband seam but the label on the inside appears to say size 8 which would be a US size 7 7/8, according to my hat sizing chart. Since my original post I measured the inside circumference around the sweatband at approx. 24 1/4" which would be in the size 7 7/8 ballpark . The opening measures approx. 7 1/2" across x 8 3/4 front to back. All I know is that it's way too big from my 7 1/4 size head or it would be a keeper. Another feature that I noticed is the unreeded leather sweatband is similar to the unreeded leather sweatbands used by Borsalino with the ridge ventilation system in front of the band (at least I think that is the purpose of that feature).
