I would like to explore the designs that Leathertogs did, but I am having trouble finding much on internet, the name seems to be overused by other makers... Any recommendations?
I heard about Rin Tanaka's books being the best ressource, is it really the case, if so, which of his books would you recommend?
Also curious to explore models by East West Musical Instruments Co., but already found quite a few of their designs online.
As usual all recommendations, advice highly appreciated :)

I have two Rin books. This one has a section on leather togs from Mass.

I hadn't had those books out. Looking through it I found another jacket I own! I'll be doing a special on that jacket. I've got an expert who already identified it without the label. Now a picture that confirms the maker.

I haven't looked at the second book yet. I'm sure there's more pictures from leather togs

Leathertogs have some really cool jackets! Between the Freewheelers models, to the Himel and LW models. Hoping to find what other jackets they had and if there is one I like, have it recreated.

Having them recreated is the problem.

Freewheelers have great jackets, but fit very small and charge an insane custom fee.
Himel, even though his Avro and Ross Mk1 combine all the design features of the jacket i dream of, he didn't look interested in doing something that isn't available on his website.
LW not interested in, not manly enough.

Not sure who else would be able to do that!

Freewheelers charge way too much indeed for a custom size

I am surprised that Himel wouldn't take it on, I thought he would do any customisation
Just out of curiosity, what would you combine between Avro and Ross Mk1?

Did you already contact LW? On their website: " We will gladly undertake practically any custom work a Retail or Trade customer requires. However, we must caution the customer that TRADE/CUSTOM ORDERS are NOT RETURNABLE. If you design it, it's yours. All TRADE/CUSTOM ORDERS must be PREPAID and Credit Cards are Not Accepted unless waived by us."

You can also contact Johnson leathers, they would take the challenge

This is basically the leathertog i saw in that book:

If you look at the Avro and Ross Mk1 you will see a lot of similarities. It basically combines things from both models with a simpler back.
He didn't flat out say no, but he didn't sound very interested and said he would think about it.

I can see the similarities indeed. In case he says no, you at least have other options :)

As you can see it really influenced Himel's designs, the throat latch, the cuffs, the D pocket... It basically has all the features you find in the Avro and Ross Mk1 but with a simpler back.
I want one.... I NEEED ONE.

Beautiful. Amazingly designed, too. Love it how they used to do comfortable sleeves with tight cuffs back then... Like it should be done. Taper, length, proportions. Perfect.

Can't quite figure out where that hidden pocket is, though...

I think the pocket is on the inside lapel, like the pocket on the chevalier.
The book is full of typos and google translate errors.

I have the latter, sounds like I should also pick up the former.... I found the one I have limited in terms of information, but the photos are invaluable for identification and style ideAS. Still toying with the idea of buying his book on motorcycle helmets.
