Hi-couldn't seem to find this in an earlier thread so thought I'd start anew... What's your favourite Vintage inspired book, eg. fashion and hairstyle books or anything that inspires you vintage-wise? I'm a total bookworm and thought it'd be fun to recommend some books I love and hear some of your favourites for future reading.

The Bombshell Manual of Style by Laren Stover http://www.amazon.com/Bombshell-Man..._bbs_sr_1/105-5861642-4403650?ie=UTF8&s=books
This book is fun!

Better than Beauty:A Guide to Charm by Helen Valentine/Alice Thompson http://www.amazon.com/Better-than-B..._bbs_sr_1/105-5861642-4403650?ie=UTF8&s=books
Was going to mention this in the finishing-school thread. It was written in the 30s and is all about manners etc. and it has the cutest illustrations and 1930s fashion advice!

I have a book I picked up recently by Christa Weil called 'It's Vintage, Darling!' which is specifically about buying vintage clothes - where to go, what to look for, fit, fabrics, everything but I can't find it on Amazon to show you all! However, I did find this similar book by her:

I like this book. Femme Fatale- famous beauties then and now. They make over modern stars to look like icons of beauty.

Louise Dahl-Wolfe- A Retrospective. Great old fashion shots.

Melvin Sokolsky: Seeing Fashion- the same, 50's up till the 70's, I believe

No fashion per se, but Spilling Open: The Art of Becoming Yourself by Sabrina Ward Harrison is really visually stimulating for me and it could certainly be impactive on fashion. Actually, Brave on the Rocks; if you don't go, you don't see is great too. These are published art journals she did.
