Hi I was not sure where to put this so I put it in here since this is where all the moms would be. I have in my possesion a very nice light yellow Cosco high chair. I didn;t take a picture of it yet but if anyone would like it I cna place it in the classifieds.

Then that made me think. Do you vintage mom's use vintage baby itmes?

I think I put my daughter in one vintage dress when she was smaller, we had a lovely gabardine coat and a couple of jackets she used for awhile, and when we go to Spain we always go to this shoe shop that sells classic-looking kids shoes. Other than that no. A lot of the old cribs, etc. wouldn't pass consumer safety tests these days (not that plenty of kids didn't make it just fine before that), some of the clothes are itchy and uncomfortable.

Imagine letting your child walk around with a glass bottle! Those crazy foremothers!

I use vintage stuff all the time, as long as I think it's safe, (or I'm right there with him!)
I was not thrilled with the modern highchairs, I bet yours might be more sturdy than some!

This includes his father's and grandfather's clothes, my rocking duck from when I was little, an antique highchair that folds down to a stroller, and the cradle that his great grandpa built.

You can find some of these items in these albums if ya wanna see! Sorry so long!

ohairas those pics are toooo cute. I make the 'balloon outfit' for girls and call it a 'bubble'.:)
I used all vintage stuff including the maternity clothes I made and that was almost 25 years ago. Although I think people used a car seat back in the eighties but we didn't have a car so that was a moot point.

Thanks for the photos. That high chair is pretty neat looking. I'd love to find a vintage baby buggy in good shape,i.e.,safe to use. When I was growing up my grandparents still had the one that my Mom used for me and my sisters in the 50's and 60's and it has a much nicer look than the new plastic ones. It was a lot smaller than those baby SUVs people use now. No cell phone cradle or latte holder though...;)

Thanks all!

I have seen many 40's and 50's buggy's on the bay.. I can't think of the specific name for them now. But they are very nice and look good and sturdy to me!

If you live in a walking city, those old strollers might work fine, but I could never get one into the back of my Honda. I always just went for comfort with my daughter. Of course when they are tiny, they just need a comfy spot to lay down.

One thing you have to watch with vintage baby items, toys, etc is the paint. If your child is past the chewing on things stage, then it's not really a worry, but lead paint can be found on a lot of old stuff, so that is one thing to watch out for.
